This effect worked well for me in a church sanctuary setting. The LED module was effective in washing a cardboard flame with flickering light in a medium ambient light environment.
The product photo is not accurate, because it shows a reflector behind the lamp. You don't get a reflector"”you get the LED, a battery module, and a controller module, connected to each other by pigtails. No wiring required, but you'll need to adapt it for your application. In my case, a melamine dinner plate, a drilled hole, some adhesive spray, and aluminum foil bright side out did the job in about 10 minutes.
I was glad in this case that I didn't have to improvise; I saved that for the presentation itself.

The media could not be loaded. I thought it was a deceptive or just me, but the pic on website looks like there is a round red disc that holds the bulb.
Not so. It is just the bulb, switch and battery pack.
It's good for what I need. Fake fire for Halloween.
$20 maybe a little steep.

Used it to enhance a Giant Skeleton to make it look like it had flames in it's chest. Worked great.
Realistic glowing ember effect!

I use this LED system to simulate a fireplace and I am very pleased with the results! The glowing ember effect is spot on! There are various modes for the light that simulate various subtle dynamic glowing undulations. I recommend installing the light so that you do not directly view the bulb but instead view the indirect illumination. See fire place picture. I achieved this by hiding the LED bulb behind the faux log. We no longer used the gas powered fire but it seemed a pity to not have the warm visual of a "real" fire. The resulting illumination is very realistic. I am currently running the system off the battery pack but plan on connecting it to a 12V transformer.
In summary: The LED system does a great job of simulating animated glowing embers. The only thing missing is the directly visible flame effect and crackling sound of a real fire!
