Bad Switching Mechanism
CyberChang✓ Verified Purchase•May 11, 2018
Pros:
1. Exterior is well constructed.
2. Nice good looking pen.
Cons:
1. Switching mechanism is not working well. Broke after a month of use. Bad design.
2. Exterior is too smooth. Easily dropped. It would help if the area where the fingers come in contact has some rougher surface for better grip.
3. Too heavy.
4. Inks are not uniform.
5. Difficult to refill pencil. Leads are easily broken in the tube.
6. Too expensive for the low quality.
I tried to fix it; however, this pen's switching mechanism is difficult to open. Save your money and buy other brands.

Good pen but don't loose the cap.

A good pen. The reason for one star rating is that the second day of owning it, i pressed the button to close the pen and the metal cap on the eraser shot off across the room. Now the pen will not work because you can't push it all the way in without the cap.
Not for kids as it is easily damaged.

But handled like the precision instrument it is, it's a great pen. UPDATE: I had two of these (yes, HAD). The first I'd let someone use and said person, in trying to "close" it incorrectly, crushed the top button all the way into the barrel (vice using the side release!) so now it doesn't work. The second I was using and dropped, and it fell right on the tip, driving the pen up into the barrel and now it does not work either (and a tiny coil spring fell out)! don't loan this and don't drop it. I'm disheartened because it wrote quite well and was useful.
Hard Pass

The eraser cover is far too loose on this pen causing it to be easily lost. The eraser cover frequently flies off of the pen upon release of the mechanism. Because of the way it is designed this cover is required for the pen to function correctly. It is very difficult to push the pen mechanism down far enough to lock without the cover. If you manage to push it down far enough, the mechanism release switch does not work at all. In order to retract the mechanism you must somehow hope there is some eraser left within the pen to maneuver the mechanism enough to release.
Otherwise, with the exception of the green ink, the pen writes smoothly. It is also a little heavier than I would like, but that isn't a deal breaker for me. The issue above however ruins an otherwise decent pen.

I bought this pen to replace the cheaper and cheaper ...

I bought this pen to replace the cheaper and cheaper looking classic Bic version. The Kentaur pen did not last three months before something in the retraction mechanism stopped working. I had a "handy" coworker try to see if he could get it to work again and he was not successful. Now I am back to the Bic that has a reliability that matches its unfortunate ugliness.
