I am heavily disappointed. I ordered this mic and it's completely deffective. I brought it in to numerous stores and had it tested thoroughly. My adapter and my camera are ruled out, both are working with other phantom mics. I suppose I was the unlucky one who got the DUD. Makes me wish they tested them before sending.
great quality for price

Nor problems. Really sensitive. Will pick up congregational singing in a church well.
Decent bang for the buck

The pickup level on this mic rivals the NTG4+, however the side noise reduction could use improvement. It picks up more room sound than an NTG4+. Perhaps that's because it only has slits on one side of the mic barrel. Decent bang for the buck.
Special quality mic at a super low price

I'm not exactly sure if I got super lucky or what, but I purchased this mic a few months ago when I got my small wedding videography up and running.
After a corporate shoot with it, during post production, when I was messing with the EQ on it's recorded talking head track with every other channel muted, I took off my headphones and had to go downstairs to look at this mic again.
I have used audio technica and other similar boom microphones in the past. I know what a good mic sounds like vs a cheap one.
I couldn't believe it. After inspecting it, I knew something was up. Some say the build quality isn't great, but let me tell you, for 30$ it was more than satisfactory. This was a steal. At 100$ it's still a great, great price.
Not sure what the mystery is with this, but this is a special quality microphone. I wouldn't be surprised to see the price double soon or climb higher as supposedly it did from my time of purchase. If you're in my field of business and on a budget, take the risk and buy it. It makes audio editing a lot more pleasurable once you hear the difference it makes - in my case from formerly using just the onboard mics on my h4n.
