I'm a complete newbie to using a silicone baking mat and rolling pin for making and rolling dough. I appreciate high quality and long lasting products, and believe I have found one here. The size is well suited for 30" range ovens, is virtually non-stick with all but the stickiest of dough (a very light coating of flour solves that), it is thick enough to potentially last a long time, and it cleans easily under hot running water with no scrubbing. I don't plan on using this in the oven, but have had great success in placing parchment paper over my dough then flipping it over quickly onto a baking stone with the parchment paper between the dough and baking stone. Finally received the mat I ordered. Unfortunately, It's about 2 inches too big to fit in my oven. This thing is super huge and very useful. Love the conversion tables on each corner. They're convenient when using recipes from different cultural areas where they use Celsius, ml, gm and mg in their instructions and you don't have to stop cooking to go look up what it converts to. Love the templates too. They're great for sizing dough for bread and pie crusts; and also gives spacing guides for placing biscuits, cookies and candies so they don't spread and touch during baking. Since it was too big to use in my oven, I used the spacing on the mat to place my red velvet cookies on my baking sheet. They turned out perfectly...unlike the last batch where I didn't have enough room between them and I ended up with a thin red velvet sheet cake. Since I didn't cook them on the mat itself, I don't think they'll let me insert a pic of the cookies spaced out on the baking sheet I cooked them on. I'm sure it'll be fine to show the finished product of what the template sizing gave me in terms of nearly perfect round cookies though. Enjoy! I definitely would encourage buying this product. I wish they made it just a weeee bit smaller so it could fit in my oven.

I bought the 2/3-sheet size to fit my large Wilton cookie sheets. I have used it exclusively for cookies so far. I can roll out the dough easily on it, put cut cookies on it in the freezer for a few minutes before baking. and then bake. The cookies slide right off. I also like the helpful conversion charts in the corners (since some of the recipes I get now are in metric): Temp (Centigrade and Fahrenheit), weight (grams and ounces), volume (imperial and metric), and fluids (gallons, cups, teaspoons, etc.) There are also 12 evenly-spaced spots with 2 concentric circles each (a little over 2" and a little over 3"), which I think may be good for such items as macarons (although I haven't made anything that needed them). Also one set of concentric circles (every inch from 5" to 11") for measuring pie dough, fondant, etc. As I said, I've only used it for cookies so far, but it has done all I hoped it would!

It works! I bought this mat so I would have a heat proof surface to pour out homemade toffee for a Butter Brickle ice cream recipe I was trying (does anyone else remember Butter Brickle? Yum!). Not only did it work beautifully for that, but when I rolled out dough for cinnamon rolls, you want to know what happened? Nothing! Isn't that great? Unlike plastic products from 20 or 30 years ago, this product felt revolutionary. The only other pastry mat or pad, or whatever you'd want to call it, that didn't cause dough to stick to it was one I grew up watching my mom use. It was made of fabric, like canvas, with different pie crust sized circles printed on it and a wooden frame on either side with an edge that pressed against the edge of the countertop, so that when you pushed your rolling pin over your dough, it wouldn't slip or slide. When you were finished, you slipped it off the wood and tossed it into the washer. I wonder when they stopped making those... and I wonder if my mom still has hers. She's 85 years old, now. Also, regarding the silicone baking mat, I bought the large size. Not too big. Not too small. I'm a happy camper.
