Sunray Digital Paint Coating Thickness Gauge with Back Light
Alex✓ Verified Purchase•June 10, 2017
This Sunray Digital Paint Coating Thickness Gauge is pretty easy to use and the reading is measured almost instantly. It supports both magnetic induction and Eddy current methods to acquire reading (magnetic induction for non-magnetic coating layers nn magnetic substrate; Eddy current for nonconductive coating layers covered on nonferrous substrate). To take a measurement on most surfaces, I just had to press down the probe onto the measuring point and wait for a beep. After the beep, I can lift the device to check the measurements. Some surfaces and materials do require calibration before an accurate measurement can be taken.
There is a large LCD screen with back light so the unit can be used in the dark. The screen shows a lot of useful information such as previous measurements, measuring mode, and surface information. There is also built-in stability detection and gives a warning if the device isn't stable enough to take an accurate reading. I have tried it with several different materials and surface and it did take measurements pretty fast and the reading is pretty accurate ( less than 3% as claimed, if used correctly). However, some practice is required as the device has to be perfectly perpendicular to the measuring surface. Otherwise the reading could be off.
