This is a great product. Having managed application software development for 25 years, there is an old adage: KIS - Keep It Simple, KIRS - Keep It Really Simple, and my favorite - KIRFS Keep It Really Freaking Simple! This can not get any easier, replace your existing light fixture, answer some setup questions on your smart phone - done! I have installed two, at the front and back of the house, total install time, about half an hour. Make sure you have at least 2 MBPS upload and download which is usually not an issue these days. Picture is crisp, review and downloads of motion detected activity amazing. Intuitive UI has everything you can think of, including things you probably didn't. Holiday greetings and barking dog a nice touch, the ability to turn off the cool blue LED says they are listening to their customers. Now able to integrate with Amazon's Echo and the hits keep coming. I look forward to what this innovative company plans next. One quibble, the mounting bracket assumes it is going into a recessed box, in my situation, the bracket fits flush with the finished mount. This means the lamp base sticks out about 1/4 of an inch from the mounting plate. Not a show stopper, a little silicone will fix that; hopefully in their next design they can factor that in so the lamp base can sit flush. If that's the only thing I can complain about, I am 100% happy.

2/9/2017 Update - It's been close to a month since I installed these at my front and back door. Still working fine with no complaints. I was able to figure out why the unit was offset from the mounting post on the house. The mounting post has two configuration, flush mount and recessed mount, when I placed the supplied mounting bracket in the recessed slot, it fit flush to the post. The mounting post was something I bought at Home Depot, it is used to fit over lap siding and gives a smooth mounting base to install your lamp. It's plastic and easily paintable to match the house. Good luck with your purchase!

Kuna light is easy to install and link to my iPhone and it looks great. After I installed the kuna kight fixture after only one night i caught an individual aproach my home at 1:30 am with a sock on his hand he climbed my stairs and stole my light bulb. And he stole several more in my neighborhood with video i had we posted this on facebook many people saw the video . The story was picked up by a local radio station whose dj was also a victim of this creepy man it was then broadcast on wbz tv 4 in boston this thief is now known as the "charlestown light bulb bandit" if you google this charlestown light bulb bandit you can see the video. Well done kuna i will be installing more of these light at the other entrances to my house.

I think Kuna did a great job creating a product that integrates easily into existing hardware that can be found on a majority of American homes. They offer different styles and even a product that lets homeowners integrate their own custom light fixtures. However the software can use some improvements to make it easier and more intuitive for the user.

The way Kuna works is that it monitors your home through the integrated cameras in the light fixtures. It only saves and records a video when it can detect a presence outside your home based on the motion sensitivity you set in the app. It tries to do this in a smart way where it saves a clip in the app a few seconds before and after an event happens in front of the camera.

What isn't clearly communicated in the marketing materials is that it does not give you the full video from the day like a traditional security camera. This is an important differentiation because there are times of the day that Kuna misses a recording. It would be great to see the full video to see what had happened during a missed video recording. This is important if there is a package stolen and no video captured because the Kuna wasn't triggered to send you a notification and recording.

There are also times when the app decides not to refresh the current moment outside the home and gives you a view of the last known image captured. This gets annoying because I would expect the view to always be current outside my home.

There are features of the app that are also not intuitive. A user can swipe right on a saved recording to mark whether if the camera captured a person or not. I assumed that by doing this, the app and product would become smarter over time with the ability to know what it is capturing and what is important for it to capture (people, cars, cats, dogs, etc.) However it does not do this currently and is only a way to "mark" or flag videos in your library.

Be aware that there is no phone number for customer service and they service their customers through online chat and email. I would recommend installing and setting up your Kuna during working hours just in case you run into a problem with installation. I installed mine on a Saturday and the Kuna app told me I needed to update the firmware on all installed hardware. It was easy to tap and say "install" however the app crashed every time I did this and I had to wait until Monday to figure out the problem. With that said, their customer service is excellent when they are available and even do follow-ups via email to make sure the product is still working properly and the problem solved.

A buyer also needs to prepare to have a strong Wi-Fi signal throughout the house as well as a great connection. At the cost of having a wireless and easy hardware setup, the Kuna relies heavily on the connection otherwise it can't do its job purposefully. Keep in mind that you are mounting these light fixtures outside your home, where Wi-Fi signals get tricky trying to reach the Kuna where signals break trying to pass through walls made of plaster, wood, stone and concrete. A great workaround to this is to buy multiple Wi-Fi extenders to get good coverage.

Know that the system is flawed when buying a Kuna. However much flaw there are, it is great that it is almost all app-centric meaning with continual updates over time, it CAN get better.

I am happy that I purchased the product and these are just my observations from the first few weeks owning it. I was able to capture videos of neighbors doing not so nice things to my yard and I am able to track when people are coming and going from the house like UPS, PG&E, contractors, etc. In the end, it serves the purpose for what I bought them for and gives me a sense of better security I have on my home if I did not have them.

I bought this after watching many online reviews which were not great but given that it is a hard to resist product since you also get a wifi controlled light. So I took a chance on it and I have to say I was surprised overall.

So first the install... simple as installing a light fixture. After that the app setup was a breeze.

The camera... day quality is good not great... but I will take it. The Nest Outdoor cam is better but again no light. Color is a bit washed out but that is me being picky... also the camera view could be wider. Night view is bad, terrible , almost awful where the Nest Outdoor Cam blows it away... not even close.

The speaker on it is loud... which is a big plus. UPS man passed by and walking away when I spoke over the speaker and he heard me halfway down the driveway... which was nice. I also really like the messages presets that you can have the speaker say for you... that is nice if you don't want to talk to the person.

The light for me is what seals the deal for the front door over the Nest Outdoor Cam for several reasons. 1) Now when we are out of town it will turn automatically at dusk and dawn. No more leaving the light on the whole time making it obvious we are not home. 2) Since it uses the electric connection of the front porch light I don't have to plug it in to a plug or worse install a new plug.

One thing to note which I thought was well designed is the ability to move/adjust the angle of the camera. The lens has a twist lock around it you loosen... then adjust the angle of the lens how you want it... then turn the lock and it stays in place... very easy to use.

So what could be improved? If you turn on alerts this thing will blow up your phone even if you are home and step outside. Nest is great at this by being able to know you are at home and turning that feature off while at home. When you leave Nest knows and turns on the alerts... which works great but this doesn't do that.

Do I regret buying this... absolutely not, as a matter a fact I recommend it to anyone looking for a similar product. The product solved two problems at once for me. The product looks good, the app is simple to use, super functional and the price point is hard to beat. I think when you combine the light and camera it is a package hard to beat.

Description, accessories, photograph, website presentation, and what arrived are the same-size, shape, color, and it matched my expectations. The product(s) arrived on time, as described by Amazon & manufacturer, it was shipped without issue, arrived within prescribed estimates, the packaging was undamaged, and the product itself was unmolested and made with quality materials.

Great light, great product, and easily installed for a moderately skilled electrical DIY'er! I had an existing light, so I did no wiring etc., just unhooked and then connected the right wires as explained via the instructions. I recommend, especially if you've never done something like this before, watch as many video's as you can stand, make sure the power is off, if you can't find the right one, well, turn the whole house off then! The only complaint, and not enough of one to downgrade it, is the app. Live video goes in and out with updates, not that reliable regarding the live feed, and the notifications are a bit off...again, not enough to downgrade the rating or to recommend another product, notifications are enough that it's not too much of an inconvenience for the person waiting, and the recordings are not impacted by the app, recordings are clear, great video, and once you find out your needs, sensitivity wise, and range, the quality of video improves and the number of times it is erroneously activated is reduced to an acceptable level. I don't have a subscription and my needs are easily met, I think it's great, I can access it from anywhere, and the programmed responses are fantastic for my kids if they're home alone and they can get rid of people using them or the alarm if someone refuses to leave.
