So much better than the one that came with my Black Rapid strap. And better quality than the Joby; which I initially purchased.

I finally bit the bullet and bought a Black Rapid RS-4 camera strap. I had a couple of bulky straps with the connectors that wear out (you know who I'm talking about) and I wanted something more compact that doesn't get in the way when I hold my camera.

Unfortunately the tether that comes with the black rapid strap has not been known to be sturdy. It has come loose at the most inopportune time. I paid $63 for the strap I had a hard time spending more money to buy another tether.

There are you tube videos how to make an inexpensive tether from paracord , a camera strap D ring and a carabiner. I didn't want to mess with making one only to find out I made it incorrectly and have my camera and lens drop to the ground.

This tether is very easy to install. One end goes thru the the camera lug and the carabiner attaches to the strap. Make sure if you have a strap like a Black Rapid you put the carabiner below the spring locks or you''ll be constantly adjusting the strap to fit the tether.

The carabiner seems pretty solid and it has a very secure locking mechanism so it won't come off easily.

If you're unsure that the tether included in your camera strap is unsecure don't even think twice about buying this one.

This tether is an incredible value given the quality and price. Very sturdy when combined with your favorite camera sling. Not sure this is even a fair quibble, but the tether is so thick (think secure) it is a bit of a challenge to feed the rope through the camera attachment islet. Takes a few minutes and perhaps a small tool, but once attached provides true safety for your camera from falling.

Item I received was very well made from what I've been able to see/use. I've had for about 4 days now and was very cautious about trusting my Nikon D7100 DSLR camera with my Nikon 80-200 f2.8 (HUGE and MONSTEROUSLY heavy) lens on. So, I carefully let it swing from the shoulder strap that I bought a few months ago and then felt so much more "comfortable" when having this Safety Camera Strap also attached. I know there really is not true "fail safe" plan, but, I DID have my camera become undone from an older homemade "Rapid Strap" a year ago and was 1 single rotation from falling free of it and hitting the ground-oh my lord...so scared! If I had had this safety strap, I would not have been so fearful.
Lastly, I had thought of trying to make one myself...uh...no! I've extremely handy with tools and makeshift items, but, just could not make it happen and decided just to spend the $$ and get something of quality and that looks very good. For my full piece of mind, on the rotating knob that is used to open up the metal loop to fit around the camera neck/shoulder strap, I put black electrical tape JUST to be sure it would not accidentally come lose-very, very slim chance of it, but...hey...that's just what I did and I'm completely happy with the item and the service (SAME DAY DELIVERY?? WHAT?? YES!!) Could not find one of these ANYWHERE in the Bay Area locally where I'm from. So..get it-try it-love it! :-)

great item for extra security but just buy the shoulder straps that already come with a tether instead of trying to save money bc you would still want a tether for extra security. i wound up spending the same amount instead of saving. anyway im happy with the tether
