DO NOT BUY! CHEAP REPLICA THAT DOESN'T WORK
Vahan✓ Verified PurchaseApril 11, 2017
Cheaply made Chinese replica of the original Lava Lamp. The glass bottle I've received contains lots of air bubbles and other speckles that shine when the bottom light is on. The 25w bulb that comes with this 14.5" lamp is inadequate for heating the wax - it stay at the bottom, unable to melt completely the wax. Amazon should remove all Lava Lite's lava lamp products from the catalog - just scrolling through the negative comments should be enough.
Murky View

I had ordered the Beatles' "Rubber Soul" Lava Lite, thinking I was going to get some cool white "lava" flowing through green water. Instead, I got this murky green water look that has all the aesthetic of the bottom of a peat bog. You can barely see the "lava" and the light is lost in the murk.

Lava Lite used to have clear liquid so the light would shine through clearly and the "lava" would be seen clearly. That's why I ordered this lamp, thinking "clear" in the description meant the old style clear liquid. No such luck. Instead of black "lava" and clear liquid I got black "lava" and what I think is skim milk. Again, the light and the "lava" is lost in the murk.

I will say that if you like barely being able to discern what's moving in the lamp, every other aspect of the lamp is excellent.
A great pick

Bought this for a funky fun mood in our office loft. It's great! The colors (purple liquid, yellow wax) were something I had to think about but my choice was spot on for the look I wanted. Nothing garish or odd. Rather, a beautiful sunset - in terms of colors...red, orange, purple, gold. I followed the instructions and the item did need additional time to begin fully moving. I can imagine impatient folks trying to shake it to speed things up - bad move - as that would tend to cloud your liquid. There is a circular metal coil that is unseen when the was fully melts. You could see mine in the was blob as it began to melt. It then settled, unseen, into the bottom section where it remains now. It took 10 hours one day and another 3 the next for the complete was melt and free flowing movement to begin. Worth the wait. Ten hours is the maximum on-time per day and again, I followed all directions. You won't be sorry if you try this lamp!
Decent product for the price

Just for clarification, I ordered the black/clear version. I plugged it in, and after about 2(ish) hours the lava began to actively move. The liquid isn't as clear as I'd like it to be, but for around $11, and free shipping I think it is a decent product. If and when the liquid clears up, I will make note and increase the star level. I have read quite a few negative reviews regarding the murkiness of the water, so my expectations aren't too high. I think the murkiness is related to the dye in the "lava" leeching out into the liquid. Overall, decent, working product so far. If you have unrealistic expectations for you $10 to $20 lava lamp, I suggest passing on this product.
Not So Great

I wish I could give this more than two stars. When I first got this lamp it was very nice and I thought it would look good in my daughters room, One we turned it on and let it heat up for abut 24 hours, I noticed the liquid was very foggy. I thought maybe it would clear up after I let it settle for a few days, but it never did. The water only got more foggy almost a yellow color. I ended up not using it at all and buying another one from Wal-Mart.
