Wonderful Machine Sewing Accessory!

Wish I had looked for this sooner. I always take advantage of bulk thread when I get it on sale. Until now I would use a mason jar to feed it because it did not fit my machine spindle. I received it yesterday and used it today and it is great. Just what I needed to use my large spools of thread. I debated between this one which has a plastic base and a closed thread guide and the metal base that had a open thread guide. I am happy with my choice and would purchase again based off my first day using it.

Third times a charm! This is the 3rd thread stand I've tried and it is WONDERFUL! I have a set of Embroidex thread that I thought my machine hated. With this stand I've been using it nonstop for 3 days now with no trouble at all. I think what sets this thread stand apart from the competition is the weighted base and the loop that holds the thread at the top. Not quite as easy to use as one where the tread just rides in a dip, you have to put the thread through the loop (but it is a half inch hole, so not difficult at all - the thread is guided smoothly into your machine. To use it properly, set the stand in FRONT and to the RIGHT of your machine. A great purchase!
It Does the Job...

I found I use coned thread more often lately so I purchased this to help with an even thread feed. It was easy to put together. I chose this one because it claimed to be weighted, it if this is important to you, the "weight" appears to be the weight of the plastic base. Maybe there is something inside the base, but that'd be surprising because it is light.

After looking at these in the crafty big box stores and not being impressed by the hefty price tag and flimsy nature of the holder, I kept talking myself out of getting one. When a recent sewing jag made me long for one again, I turned the to the interwebz and found this gem. The heavy base is just the right weight to keep the cone holder in place without being too heavy. And once you put the holder together, it feels solid. Great investment for my sewing room.

I have a Brother PE-770 as well as an SE-400 and I was really excited about ordering this along with a huge spool of thread I found here on Amazon.
I am somewhat of a beginner to embroidery, I have only had my machines for about 6 months. I started off buying Madeira thread (the ones that come in a variety box on 220yd/200m spools) for my machines as I had read it was some of the best thread to use. The problem was that the spools are small therefore run out very fast and buying replacements of some of the colors can be expensive and or hard to find. The bigger spools are more cost-effective however they don't fit on my machines, this solves the problem. You can also adjust the height of the stand for your machine. I have it at about 11.5 inches which is the lowest it stands but it can go up to a little over 16 inches if needed.
The spools I bought along with this are polyester 5000m spools.
