Craftsman was my choise for 40 years and I know things have changed and quality is not the same but for all around home use they are still a good choice.

So this is a tough one. I received a similar set when I was in 8th grade from my parents in 1994. However, after years of use through many of my high school and college rides sockets walked away and I was down to just a few components. I needed a complete set and while the "New" Craftsman is nice from Stanley Black & Decker it didn't feel like Craftsman. Fortunately, I was able to snag this set for $43 a few weeks back.
Overall, it looks like an old school Craftsman set but when I compared it to my USA made 1/2' ratchet it became apparent that this was just styled after the old sets and not copies made in China. The sockets are not terrible and honestly as long as everything has the lifetime warranty and I have an ACE and Lowes close ... why not.
