This gel is so thick, that even the smallest of amounts caused me grief. It was so thick I could barely see through it and then after about 10 minutes it began to burn and itch something fierce. Apparently this gel isn't for my eyes. On a side note, I purchased more than one of this item and the recipient of the other tubes loves this product a great deal. She has no side effects at all and she swears by it.

I'm suffering from Recurrent Corneal Erosion for 3 years now. I've tried every treatments, surgeries, medicines out there by now and best method to prevent it from RCE to occur again is by far, eye ointments. In the field of night-time lubricant eye ointments, this is THE best I've had so far. I tried Refresh P.M, Duratears, Bausche Lomb's Soothe. But this one is the most lubricating one; All the others didn't stayed whole night, but this one held nicely to make my eyelid open when I wake up smoothly. Also, others tend to stick my eyelid quite hard when applied, but this one was more oily, which feels much more lubricating. I can't get these in my country, but I am more than willing to buy this every time I run out of this ointment. That's how far I will take for this.

My best advice here is to order only one tube until you know how this works for you. I am not a delicate little flower so I thought nothing would bother me, something might not work well enough sure, but it would not likely bother me otherwise. My eyes are super dry lately and regular drops do not give me enough long lasting relief. I decided I needed to move to a bigger gun and bought this in the three pack. I used it one night and in the morning my eyes were bright red, not the skin around my eyes but the eyeball itself. I could not believe how uncomfortable and watery my eyes were all day. In fact, I thought it was a fluke, that maybe my dry eyes were just worsening. I waited a few days for my eyes to go back to baseline and then tried it again with the same results. I ended up discarding all 3 tubes. Such a waste! So, although this works well for many based on all the good the reviews, I highly recommend being smart and getting just one tube if you have never used this before!

This night-time ointment is very soothing for my severe dry eyes. You don't need to use much to get relief. When I did, I found an ointment stain on my pillowcase in the morning, but it washed out in the wash. Don't use it until you are in bed and ready to go to sleep as your vision will be blurry. You want it to stay in your eyes, and blinking causes it to settle on the skin under your eyes. The price of the 3 pack is good, about the same as my local sale price, but more convenient.
