Update: I was an idiot when I trimmed these. The buckle can release the belt and you can trim it on that side - which does not have to perfect since it's hidden. I wish that the elastic "excess belt" retainers were made out of something more sturdy as they are starting to chafe. I still like these belts and would buy them again.

Original: I really like these belts, they are sufficiently nice, non-offensive, and low-profile enough to wear daily, but also have the benefit of not having any metal when going through detectors while traveling. The buckle works a little differently then on other belts but it's not difficult to figure out and seems to work well enough. I've never had the belt slip or anything like that. My only complaint is that if you have a reasonable sized waist, it's highly likely that you'll need to shorten the belt. While shortening the belt is not a problem, being able to reproduce the original finish of the cut is. I've tried melting it with a lighter, using a hot knife, melting with a soldering iron, but none of these have resulted in a finish as nice as the original. If the manufacturer would provide some directions or a tool to replicate the original finish it would be a 5 star product in my book.

Bought 3 of these and they are pretty nice. I like that they are all plastic so as not to scratch or pinch at the waist like metal ones with sharp edges. I also like the elastic loop that comes with it. The strap is sturdy and does not "fold" on the pants/shorts waistband. Buckle seems to keep band in place. Takes awhile to figure out which way is inside and outside, but that gets figured out pretty quickly when you can't fasten it... ha!

The buckles are plastic instead of brass like military issue web belt buckles. Therefore the durability and functional time span of such plastic buckles are questionable. Time will tell....

I was a bit hesitant to purchase these belts with a plastic clasp but I hated having to remove my belt whenever I went to the airport. I was skeptical that the plastic buckle would be as durable as a metal one and I was cautious the first few times that I used these belts. After a month of use I am happy to report that the buckles are very sturdy and well made. Somewhat tight and difficult to open and close initially, they have worn in a bit and operate more easily....or maybe I am just getting used to them.
