Really fun to play with and simple to use. The 8 year old in our family liked it best. It's easy to pick up and just play once you download the free app that goes with it. He gets to use up a lot of energy and it gives a lot of excitement to experiment with the different sounds. I think the adults in the house expected it to be a little more challenging or complicated; for instance I thought we could choose the notes and compose songs somehow but it just plays the prerecorded sounds in an interactive way. So the musically inclined adults found it interesting but lost interest quickly and the kids are excited because they can play so easily with no previous skill. There were lots of different "instruments" to choose and play with. If you find you have to "strum" too hard or use too much movement to play, you can change the settings and that helped a lot for us adults who aren't as hyper or have longer arms.

This AirJamz Music Toy was a cinch to set up! The app was easy to find in the app store and downloaded to the iPhone 5 we let our kids use for things like this. After downloading the app, we paired our guitar-pick-shaped music toy and got playing!!! The fun thing is that it appeals to difference members of the family for different reasons. The one that surprised us most is our 9-year-old special needs daughter. She suffers from severe joint pain and has always dreamed of playing on my acoustic guitar. She hasn't been able to hold my guitar at all due to the pain in her hands and arms, which has been sad for her. But this AirJamz put her "in the game" playing music just like her healthy siblings are able to do. You can get as wild with it as you would like, which the other kids REALLY enjoy, but even better, you CAN choose to play it with minimal arm movements like our 9 yr old does.

We love the different genres, songs and even types of instruments. This toy levels the playing field in our home, and the infectious smiles that come with it are priceless!!

It's a fun piece of equipment with only 2 concerns(cons if you will) First concern , the red colored strum is more expensive than the black one in amazon (more than double the cost). No idea why, as it doesn't seem to have any extra "features" so I would say get the black one!!

From the moment I took the strum outside the box, placed a battery on the back of the strum, turned it on, downloaded the app, paired the device with my iphone using Bluetooth(with in the app) and started playing/having fun, it took me 7 min. Yes, I timed it. It isn't complicated by any means. The app has a short tutorial that will explain how the device works. By the time the 9th minute came along, my toddler, her grandparents and my hubby were all lining up to play the virtual guitar and have fun!!( yes they didn't help with the set up whatsoever but they couldn't stand me having fun after my 7 min of hard work, lol) It is a stress buster!!
You swing the strum in the air(hence the name Air Guitar) and that creates music, the faster you do it, the device locks in the rhythm. You can use the same ON/ Off button in the middle to switch between the 4 different sounds that is included in the free app. You can download more sounds - guitar, drums, synths, lasers, and cool SFX from the same app. We haven't so I can't comment on that buy so far this has kept us moving and entertained.

Second concern, the battery life is poor. The device uses one CR2 battery and it drains it at a much faster rate than I would want it to. Other than that, (and the cost difference between the 2 colors in amazon) I can't think of any other concerns. It's a great gift and a unique one for all music lovers. I would recommend it.

Arrived for my son, but did not work. We are assuming the battery is dead and will purchase a new one. If that doesn't work, I will return the item. Was cool ides

We purchased this product as a family Christmas gift. I was looking forward to seeing everyone rock out. I downloaded the app on iOS and again on Android because at first I thought I was doing something wrong. It eventually occurred to me that we received an Air Jamz with a dead battery. So, here it is January 5th and we still haven't had the chance to try this out 😞.

Zivix company reached out to me immediately after I posted the above. They apologized for the unfortunate dead battery issues and they rectified this immediately with us! With no time at all we received battery replacements and we're rocking out!!
My 16 year old son loves this app and I feel this is considered an early release product, as further feedback will assist the company and the software applications in their growth in their products, software applications, and company as a whole. So far, a great company made up of wonderful people to work with.
