It does add flavor to the whiskey, definitely loses its effect the more you use it, however, that is to be suspected. The build is pretty good and has no leaks.
Caution: unless the barrel is completely full be careful not to leave the nozzle pointing straight down it may leak, also be sure to rotate your barrel while its aging every now and then to get more contact with the wood.

Came with small holes that look like they were made by bugs. Liquid leaks from the holes. I've tried plugging them with a toothpick. Not really useable.
