The scoop is very sturdy. I got it for the salt we use in winter. It's has held up just great, I leave it in the salt bin which is outside in all the elements.

We have only been using this for a few weeks but it does seem very sturdy. It holds a good amount of food so we can fill the chicken feed container faster. I would caution against the width of the scoop if you have a feeder with a narrow opening at the top. Definitely measure it before purchasing. We have a large feeder so it was a non-issue.
