Nothing that touches food should ever smell this bad

Whatever oil, packaging, or substances are used in the manufacturing of this item, the smell is DISGUSTING. When we opened the box, the noxious smell filled my kitchen, and even after I packaged it up to return it, the smell lingered.
The last thing I want to do is put food anywhere this device.
