Wanted a pet camera to check on my puppy when I wasn't home. Did a lot of research online and this one and Furbo kept popping up as number 1 and number 2 on multiple review websites. Customer reviews looked great for both cameras as well. I decided to bite the bullet on this one instead of Furbo because at the time Furbo was strangely out of stock on their website and amazon.
Well, this thing was pretty easy to setup but that's about the only good thing I can say. Connection issues started immediately. There is no issue with my WiFi connection. My other home cameras worked perfectly and all of my other WiFi devices (further away than this camera) worked perfectly too. The issue was the camera.
After contacting petcube and trying to find a solution, nothing helped. It would consistently fail to connect the stream or just say "disconnected" to not allow me to try at all. Failing to connect to stream would even happen when I was home on my WiFi. And "disconnected" would also happen at home, right next to it on WiFi.
Needless to say I was not happy at all with this purchase. I initiated a return and am awaiting that to complete.
I went ahead and got a Furbo instead since it was back in stock on their website. I chose the website over amazon because they had a $50 off promotion going on. The Furbo has no connection issues and loads way faster than the petcube feed did when it would actually work. Love it.

Super easy to set up. The wide view captures an entire room from corner to corner, much wider than any other camera I've seen. Night vision works great, laser works great, picture quality is great, but sound quality isn't perfect - you'll hear a delayed echo on your phone when you turn sound on. Not a major issue though. The only major downside to this product is that you'll become addicted to watching and playing with your kitties. Why would I do my job at work when I can watch my kittens sleep for 12 hours a day? Maybe the app should track how long you watch the camera for and send you polite reminders that maybe you have an unhealthy addiction...

First of all, the PetCube is a well designed product and good build quality. The video quality is great and the night version is above average, though not great. The laser pointer and voice/speaker are nice touches. Purchase comes with 10 days of Petcube Care which adds additional features.

The problem with PetCube resides with its Petcube Care. Without Petcube the Care Awake/Activity Capture is limited to 10 second records and from my testing only two days of recordings are accessible (regardless of the statement that 4 hours of recording are provided with the Petcube without a Petcube Care subscription). The PetCube subscriptions start at $10 USD a month which is very expensive for the service they are providing. A subscription is required for each Petcube. Additional devices cost an additional $5 USD. In my opinion this is outrageous.

I had back this product during its original Kickstarter campaign and I have slowly witness a great product be marred with its features that were once free and placed behind a subscription wall. I can understand the subscription fee to maintain the servers, but the pricing of the subscription is not aligned with the features provided. The subscription shouldn't be more than $3-4 USD per device.

I'm really sad to give this a 1 star. At first, it started out working fairly well. I could log in from work and play "laser" with my dogs.
Then, the App received an automatic update...and it hasn't worked in MONTHS! I contacted the PetCube Facebook page and they asked if I'd downloaded the latest App version (my answer was YES) and then asked what phone I was using (Andriod, latest version)....and then they offered no more assistance.

After repeatedly trying to get it to turn on for MONTHS, I then tried re-booting it, re-installing it, and re-installing the App. Nothing has helped. What a wasted $200!

The PetCube Play is the most exciting gadget I have purchased since the iPhone, hands down. Today, while I was waiting in line at the Home Depot, I was also playing with my 2 cats and my dog, and even got to reward them with an audible "good job!" when they "caught" the laser pointer! This device will revolutionize the way owners interact with their pets when away from home, and provide much-needed mental and physical enrichment for furry friends 24/7.

FEATURES: The PetCube can be set to turn on and start recording when it detects movement and/or sound, making it double as a security camera! It can store video for up to 10 days. The owner can control who is allowed remote access to the camera, laser pointer, and/or voice features, simply by adding that person to a list of "friends" or "family" (permissions can be set separately for each category). If the owner likes, the PetCube Play can even be set to "public" so anyone with the app can play when the PetCube is on! The box itself is small and discreet (a must for owners of curious cats, like me) and seems pretty sturdy.

HELPFUL HINT: when the PetCube is moved, it is essential that the owner re-calibrate it to ensure the accuracy of the laser pointer-smartphone connection. The first time I plugged it in, there was a lag between my finger-swipe and the laser. Later, I calibrated the laser toy and now it works like a dream, with no lag time!
