Threaded rod needs to be longer

Threaded rod was too short. Easy fix if you just go out and buy a longer one or use makeshift spacers to keep it stable. Did the latter. Used in a Honda ridgeling.

I have had this rack for 1.5 years. I love it. Once installed I have never had to tighten or adjust.
I purchased a 3/4 lag from the local hardware store and cut a piece at 14 1/2" and it works great without interfering with the vertical bolts

After ordering and receiving the double tactical version, I realized that the front rifle was a complete headache...literally(I kept hitting my head on it). So it was returned and I ordered the single version. However the 3/4" lag bolt that runs in the middle was too short. The bolt that came with the unit is 10" long. Which only put about 1/4" into each side. I purchased a 3/4 lag from the local hardware store and cut a piece at 14 1/2" and it works great without interfering with the vertical bolts. I have an 07 Dodge 1500 Ram crew cab. It might fit different with your truck/suv. **As a side note: being able to lock weapon to rack unit is a plus. I was able to use a standard pistol lock. Even with the DIY adjustments, I REALLY LIKE THIS RACK!! I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 only because of having to make the adjustment.
