Mini USB, not micro USB

These program as easily as any of the other cheap radios on the market (I use chirp), and they seem to have decent range. I like the fact there aren't many functions on it so you could hand this to a non-radio person or child and they won't be confused. My one complaint is that they are listed as having a micro USB connection for charging when in fact they have a mini USB. This isn't a huge problem for most if you intend to use the included chargers, but I intended to charge by D.C. In my camper. I need to purchase a couple mini USB cables because they are not as prevalent as the micro USB. All in all still a good buy.

Good equipment for the price. Comfortable and practical. Recommended.
... cell phone usage is either not functional or else pretty darned expensive

We bought these to use on board a cruise ship because cell phone usage is either not functional or else pretty darned expensive. These two-way radio transmitters/receivers are pretty darned good. With both units outdoors anywhere on the ship there was no problem with transmission and reception. The biggest concern would only be losing one overboard, which is a human factor, not an electronic one. However, indoors the signal attenuates rather quickly; successful usage could disappear within 100 yards. But we expected that. There's a whole lot of steel between decks and/or bulkheads that are way too much for any RF to penetrate. (Well, I suspect you COULD find devices to penetrate all the steel, but they would probably be too expensive, or be too big and heavy to carry, or heat up the steel, or destroy the ships' communications, or give you cancer after one use, any of which might be characterized as a undesirable result). We're satisfied. We got what we paid for. The radios operate as advertised and pretty much allowed us to stay in touch.
Good performance, can't beat the price.

Great little radios. Easy to use, good volume and has decent range. I sold my larger FRS radios after I got these.
