Great little pickup with EQ

Great little pickup with EQ. The battery compartment is a little tough to open, but you only do that infrequently, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.
I just ordered a better pickup. Otherwise

The EQ part works perfectly. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because the pickup had a dead spot by the "D" string. It didn't really matter because I purchased it for the EQ and not the pickup. I just ordered a better pickup. Otherwise,It did exactly what I wanted it to do.
the sound is surprisingly good.

installing was a breeze. the sound is surprisingly good.
Cheap component as part of cheap solution to design requirement: achieve cheezy sound from cheap guitars. Like it

Bought it to use in a hobby project. I'm using it as a stand alone preamp, not a built in. I cut the wire leading to the under saddle pickup and mounted the preamp in a box. Works. It's not as good as the $100 plus preamps but there's a big diminishing returns factor between the prices. It's somewhere between 50% and 75% as good as the name brand preamps. For my application, a couple of cheapo flat tops with generic piezo discs mounted under the bridge, it's more than adequate. They sound cheesy, but that's the way they're supposed to sound. I use both guitars for playing slide and wanted a weird distorted sound when amplified. Amplified acoustic for the cost of 2 piezo discs wired in parallel, a jack, and this preamp. The guitar and amp cost extra.
