WARNING: First I want to address the only (and critical!) flaw in this product: The sticky tape and lack of warning. The tape is so excessively sticky that the moment it came in contact with the touchscreen plastic I realized I should not have done that. The tape stuck so intensely I thought I was going to rip the plastic off the touchscreen because it was pulling it as I pulled the tape. Thankfully I was able to remove it very slowly with no damage, but it was very concerning. I reviewed the packaging and there was no warning about this. THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING! Because of this lack of warning, I rated the touchscreen at 1 star.

The product is otherwise solid. The glass and film were easy to install and get the job done with no visual or touch degradation. The glass protector covers I'd say 98% of the glass, but more than 120% of the display. The film protector covers about 96% of the touch display but 110% of the usable touch area.

If you don't know what you're doing, or you've never installed screen protectors before, then ASK SOMEONE WHO HAS TO DO IT FOR YOU. I saw many others complaining that the touch screen protector is film and that it doesn't cover 100% of the touch display. But that is by design! If the touchscreen was covered by glass, you would get near zero touch response out of it. The touchscreen uses a resistive technology (unlike the capacitive screen on your phone), and covering it in glass would make it useless. This is the same reason Nintendo uses a touchscreen with a factory installed plastic panel. Also, if the film covered 100% of the touchscreen, you would have an absolute NIGHTMARE applying it and even worse to remove it. This is because the touchscreen is depressed compared to the surrounding frame.

So since the Hori screen protectors have been discontinued, I've been looking for a good substitute. I want to clear the air about these because I think some of the negative reviews here are a bit misinformed.

First, this is for the New 3DS XL screens. It won't fit other models. Second, the condition of your screens makes a big difference in how ANY screen protector goes on, including these. New or near mint screens like mine that have been cleaned are going to be easier because nothing will get trapped under there. Third, the bottom screen protector IS a little smaller than the screen, as I see some people saying. This is a GOOD thing. If you look at the touch screen, it's sunken in with like a raised edge, see that? If the protector was cut perfectly, you'd never be able to get it off because of that edge. The top protector is cut to size because it doesn't have that edge.

Having said that, if you line up the bottom protector with any of the sides of the screen, the opposite side will have a noticeable gap, probably 2mm. What you want to do is carefully lay it down so that you split the difference and have a little gap on all sides. You won't notice it while playing and you can pull the protector off if you need to. This is easily the hardest part of applying this screen protector, but I don't know if it would be different with any other brand.

As for air bubbles and application, I used the cleaning supplies included and took my time. Both screens went on easily with only one small bubble each. Both of those bubbles disappeared after a little while. Just rub them out towards the edges of the screen.

Overall, this is a really good product if you take your time. They include two sets of protectors in case you mess up, which is great. My only real criticism is that this set absolutely REQUIRES a good microfiber cloth to clean the screens, get rid of dust, and wipe off the cleaning solution. It's a big oversight that they didn't include one, so you just have to use your own. That's my only gripe.

Application of the top screen was just as easy and seamless as any other glass screen protector. The bottom part isn't glass but for those who don't know this you can't put a glass screen protector on the bottom screen of the 3ds, it just doesn't work. There were a few bubbles on the bottom screen that looked like they were there to stay. I tried doing it a second time with the second protector but there were still some ugly bubbles. A day or two later (give it time!!) the bubbles are completely gone now.

Yes there a few tiny millimeters of space between the edges of the screen and the edges of the bottom screen protector (see item pictures) but you won't notice it at all nor does it affect gaming. Not to mention these tiny spaces are necessary since the bottom screen is indented slightly into the device and therefore cannot be covered completely. No fault to the manufacturer of this item.

The instructions that come with the screens is printed on the inside of the box and not very clear. I got my first application of the bottom screen perfect and then when I went to peel off the #2 sticker, the screen protector came with it and ruined the protector
Bottom screen #2 caught a tiny speck of dust out of the air while I was applying it and messed it up and that was that.

I know applying screen protectors isn't an easy process by default, but the #2 tab only on the bottom screen and not addressed in the instructions ruined my entire set.

Top screen came out beautifully and it looks amazing, but the bottom touch screen's the one that really needs the protection, and it's defenseless until I can buy a whole new set which I'm dreading the thought of.

I want to be clear here that pets will make this a nightmare for you, even with spare screens, particles in the air will get sucked up by this screen like a vacuum and ruin this process for you.

Fits my New 3ds XL just right. My top screen had a scratch, but the screen made it look like it disappeared. Make sure your screen is extra clean before you place these.
