Great little clock

It is so hard to find an alarm clock that does not have a ton of gadgets. All I wanted was a clock with just just two dials - one for setting times and one for on/off alarm. This does has the the snooze which I never use and would be great if the snooze was the actual on/off for the alarm. Closest I could get to a SIMPLE alarm clock.
Exacto con la hora

Sits on a floating shelf in bathroom. Wife selected. She is pleased so I am pleased.
Adorable at this price range, but....

This little, brass Seiko alarm clock looks JUST like the image. And in person, it looks larger than the measurements given, so that's good, as I was concerned it would be too small. It's actually perfect sitting on a stand next to my bed. I love the button on top that you can press to see time in the dark (it lights up while you hold down the button, and turns off when you release.) And it couldn't be simpler to set up - more intuitive than the actual instructions :-) The alarm function works great - it isn't too loud, but loud enough to wake you up!

BUT, I will say, I wish Seiko would consider making this same clock but in all metal, instead of all plastic! It would give some heft to the clock - as it is, when I reach out to grab in middle of the night to view time, I feel like I am lifting air, lol.

I was spoiled about 37 years ago, buying a beautiful brass alarm clock by Seiko - MADE IN JAPAN. It was gorgeous, HEAVY, and solid brass (which they coated so you didn't have to polish the brass.) It was maybe two-three inches taller that this plastic clock (but different shape).

That brass alarm clock was made so well! I finally threw it away last year, only because I dropped it often enough over these many decades (unfortunately), and finally about 5-years ago, the front cover developed a nasty crack when dropped by a TSA agent at the airport! (I had wrapped in bubble wrap, but as she unwrapped, it slipped and dropped!) I actually thought it was a crystal front all these years, but upon inspection, I think it was just a very well made acrylic. The coating on the brass portion also started spotting as well the past several years.

That said, I got a solid 32 years out of it, before the ugly spotting began on the coating and the front cracked from TSA (and my) carelessness. And yet, that mighty little metal clock STILL worked. It was the esthetics that now caused me to finally throw it away, but with fresh batteries it still worked (although the sound of the alarm finally faded, probably from dropping so much.) It was a "mighty" clock, though :-)

I probably paid $100.00 for that Seiko alarm clock (37-years ago), so that would be a lot more in today's dollars. In fact, it would be $275.00 today (smile, I googled.) But I'd gladly pay a few hundred for a solid brass keeper clock. I hope Seiko considers doing so, for those of us willing to pay more for a luxury product. A cheap plastic clock is not the same - but thankfully it's designed well and cute enough for the price (thus my 5-stars, but 1-star off the record that it isn't solid brass.)
