I used this to drive pressure treated 2x2 wooden stakes for a bird house and also steel T-posts for garden fencing. It makes pounding a post into the dirt a trivial task. It did not mar the wooden posts at all--maybe rounded the corners slightly. You might want to check the inner diameter for your application, though. It is a little tight.
