The engineering design is really poor. the armature shaft is not suspended by ball bearings so it does not spin easily. The shaft is only 2mm so I had to put a sleeve on it so the 4mm pulley would fit tight enough to mount securely on the shaft. Due to the lack of bearings a lot of external power had to be applied to the shaft to get the RPMs high enough to light a small wattage 12v bulb (0.1 watt). This generator was used in a Freshman science project about how wind can be used to generate electrical power. I had to use a hand drill to turn the windmill shaft fast enough to generate enough electricity to light the small 12v indicator bulb. I wish I could have found a generator that used bearings, even if it cost more. A hard lesson to learn.
