I purchased this to pack in my carryon. It fit perfectly right on top. I was going to a warm place and knew the cooler would be sitting in the sun. As an extra precaution, I also brought a foil Mylar blanket (like runners use). I lined the cooler with the Mylar and then put a ziplock of ice and my cold items. It worked great! At the end of the day, my ice was barely melted. I am so glad I bought this cooler. I think I will get plenty of use out of it since I fly often and then go on a road trip.
