Great Case, Excessive Packing
M. Smith✓ Verified Purchase•March 22, 2018
I just received this case and I am pleased with it. At lease one other purchaser has reported poor quality issue(s). I have just started to use this case, 'so far, so good' and I will update if I have poor quality problem(s). My only 'complaint' was with the excessively large shipping container + styro-packing inside the oversized box. The shipping box was excessively large (especially for a non-breakable product) and the extra styro-packing was a non-reusable/non-recyclable, "hazardous material", styrofoam injected into 2 large plastic bags. It was a real pain for USPS delivery to our rural address and it was too large for our regular trash PU and a 'pain' to dispose of the excessive, "hazardous material", styro-packing. Otherwise, I like the product and will keep and use it.
Decent company, HORRIBLE design...

Worst "travel" guitar case I've ever handled... I brought it with me on a mini tour to Europe, and even through not much carrying, the seams RIPPED completely off down the back side and the side carrying handle. Everything else about the case was alright... But for the amount I spent? A complete and TOTAL rip off. It's a shame.. because Gator's other products are alright. But this was a disappointment...
Good looking case with a minor concern

This guitar case (charcoal) looks better in real life than in the pictures. The texture gives it a very expensive look and the red interior compliments the guitar very well. The case is light weight and holds all my college materials including my tablet, cables, battery and a 13" clip board which barely fits (these are replaced by strings and equip when I'm not just goofing around on campus).
The thing that concerned me most after reading reviews was the straps with tiny plastic pivot points. Apparently some people's straps have already broken while carrying them around and this worried me because I carry a very fragile thin-bodied archtop acoustic guitar which is why I wanted the extra cushioning this case provides. Thus, as an added safety measure, I zip tied the plastic strap loops together (picture attached) and then added some steel wire key chain rings through the webbing straps as added insurance in case the plastic supports broke anyway. I actually think the setup looks pretty cool this way.
After this concern, I quite like the case. It fits both my flat top and archtop acoustic guitars very nicely and has a decent amount of storage space for a gig bag. I'd probably buy a hard case if my archtop was over a grand but I figured a $100 case should be plenty nice enough for a $500 guitar.
I plan on updating this review should anything happen.

Great case, but kind of a wierd front pocket flap design.

Great protection and fit for my Telecaster, but don't really get the angled top front pocket and flap. Though the flap does add another layer of protection and another small item zippered pocket, it moreover adds that much more thickness and bulk. The main advantage seems to be having some rain protection for the main pocket zipper. Don't walk in the rain much with my Tele, and would bag the entire case if I had to. The outer flap is secured with a central hook latch that engages with web strap loops spaced over an inch apart. With a few things in the main pocket, the outer flap no longer conforms to the shape of the pocket and the flap corners stick out and snag things. For my tastes, two straps toward the outer edges with quick disconnect latches and simple cinch straps would make a more secure fit for the flap that would keep the flap hugging the pocket, for a tighter profile package and better adjustment than the 1-3/8" fixed spacing between the latch loops, and the oversized hook latch and "Y" strap. But the overall protection and quality are excellent for this price point.

I have a 12-string Yamaha guitar in an old chipboard case; I wanted something better looking, relatively lightweight, that provided good protection but was not too expensive. Yamaha has hardshell cases, but no gig bags, and because of the 12-string headstock, most regular gigbags are too short. This bag looks good, has reasonable padding, is lightweight, and everything considered, is not too expensive.
I'm not certain yet about the durability of the grey cloth, it looks more like a canvas or lightweight twill than a heavy duty nylon, but having a color other than black makes it easy to pick out among other black gigbags and cases (it's also available in tan or black).
There are 3 exterior pockets, a flat nylon lined one on the front of the neck, a fleece lined one on the flap of the big outer pocket. It has many D-rings for attachments, and 2 "backpack straps" which are not detachable, a small minus, since I prefer to remove them if I'm not using them, to prevent them getting caught on things.
The interior is red plush, with 3 additional removable cushions; one surrounds the headstock, one is a neck support block, and the third fits under the lower bout of the guitar. They attach/detach easily with velcro. There is no interior pocket or compartment.
In summary, $100 for a well-padded, lightweight, adjustable case is just what I was looking for; if it is as durable as most Gator cases, it should last a long time.
