It's an expensive remote control BB-8. I made the mistake of buying the Target product, which was a complete waste of money unless you like high-priced paper weights. I ordered this and will take the Target product back. I like this product and think it's a cool idea. There are some issues with Bluetooth connection at times, but there's a help tutorial in the app to fix whatever issues you may have. It's also expensive for what it can do, which is basically just move around and make noises indoors. I wouldn't take this thing outside. It's a little tough to control so children would have a hard time with it, but it could be a great learning tool for advanced youngsters. The disappointing thing is that I got the target BB-8 for my 5 year old son and it was an utter failure, so now he has to learn how to use a product that was clearly not designed for his age. That's not a problem with or assessment of thIs product, but worth noting. There is a much cheaper BB-8 sold at Disney stores that would've been better for a young kid. I wish I had known about that.

by far the best made RC toy I have EVER purchased , I dont write many good reviews...there's some real sh&^ out there, but his one is the real thing. A bit smaller than I expected but IMHO actually better that way, can go around even a small apt better than if it were bigger. Easy setup, not even in english, just a simple drawing...then you download app and it works without the head falling off as other cheaper versions are known to do.
Sphero was Fun for a Week

I purchased Sphero out of curiosity. After using it for a week, I found a couple of things bothersome. It must be used on a hard flat surface (hardwood floor, linoleum, short-cut fiber carpet, etc.) to work well. If used on normal carpeting, Sphero gets mired down and will not roll. Also, Sphero has a problem with floor transitions, like going from hardwood floor to an area rug, and will not always make the transition. Sphero's head is attached magnetically, and, if Sphero makes a sudden stop, like hitting a chair leg, the head goes flying. Sphero now mostly sits in his charging stand unused and collecting dust.

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my grandson. He immediately opened the package and set it to charge. When we were done opening packages it was fully charged and he put it through some motions. It's cute how the top "hat" remains on the top of the sphere while moving.
He absolutely loves this. I also purchased the case and a clear silicone cover to protect the artwork on the ball from the cats who will try to catch it.
Great entertainment, now all he has to learn is how much he can play with it and not irritate his parents!

I bough this for my wife after seeing the latest movie. She loved this druid so I surprised her with one for our anniversary. We've had a lot of fun with it around the house. It does pick up little bits of dust and pet hair quite easily son daily maintenance is required if you use it that often. The watching with BB-8 function is okay, although we kind of.expected more. Also, if you play with this droid, you have to make sure your phones volume is up, otherwise is just a remote controlled sphere. The sounds make it more entertaining. All things considered, hood buy for what I paid for it, which was not retail. Someone else may feel differently if they've paid full retail price.
