Wow! What great lights! These lights are really bright. Surpasses my expectations. Quality night lights. The sensor is triggered by smaller animals like the cats. Glad we bought them!

UPDATE:
I ended up drilling a few holes in the upper mounting area allowing me to slide the light on and off at will as well as slightly lift the base so that I could turn of the motion detection without removing the light. I wish they would have created the mounting holes like this to begin with. Much better, I think, at least. I attached a picture of the modification mounted to my deck.

I really should have paid closer attention. This product mounting is not really ideal considering the switch is on the back of the item. Since I don't necessarily want it on all the time when I'm outside, I would like the option of turning it off. Mounting this light leaves you stuck with whatever setting you choose, and this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise looks like a great product and is a bit smaller and even brighter than I expected.

Will run out of battery quicker than claimed.

I was also contacted by the manufacturer. They offered a second device free of charge and asked (repeatedly) if I'm willing to change my 2 star rating.

I took my time and tested the old and new item right next to each other. Both got the same amount of sun, and the same amount of traffic turning them on when walking by. Here my findings:

1.) The new light stays on longer, about 20%. This goes basically along with the rechargeable battery in my old unit having lost about 20% of efficiency over the course of about 6 month of ownership. In this time frame the battery was drained and recharged over 180 times, and cheap 3.7 volt Li batteries loose about that much after 180 cycles. See attached image. With other words there is no significant improvement in how long a charge lasts (if at all) over the old light.

2.) I opened the old LED light. The build quality is (for the price) good. The PC board is excellent, the housing is ok.

3.) The product design is lacking. Even with Florida sun exposure the light lasts only about 3 hours, after that it turns into savings mode and is basically useless. When the battery is fully charged, the light is just good enough to show what's on the way in-front of it. When the current of the battery drops over time, the light is more of a marker, indicating that it is on, but not showing the path.

A proper product design would include the following changes:

- 2 instead of one 3.7 volt Li batteries
- 6 times the amount of solar panels, or panels with a 3 times higher efficiency
- better / brighter LEDs

Even if these changes would increase the price from $15 to $49, that would be worth it, because now it would be actually working the way it should. With a charge that holds 9 instead of 3 hours, and a light that is bright enough to make it count.

4.) Customer service is good, because they offered a replacement without being asked (even though the new item is not much better). I felt a little pushed to change my review though, and I hope they take my suggestions in regards to the product design and turn this thing into something really worthwhile.

In the current state this light is simply not working for me. I need more than just 3 hours of rather dim light.

I adjust my rating to 4 stars for the effort and the fact that I simply expected too much for a light at this price point.

Awesome solar light! I was impressed with how bright the light was compared to my neighbors lights. Will be buying more!

I had bought 2 of these for myself recently. I put one on the side of the house, so there was lighting if we went to the back yard that way. The other I put near where out garbage can and recycle can is.

When I opened the box, I thought "these are never going to work", because they are small in size. Wow! They really light things up.

My wife backed in the driveway, and got out of her car, and the light comes on and gives her great visibility to get to the door.

What is nice, is that the LED's wrap around to the side, and give 180º of lighting. What else is nice, is not having to run electric romex to power a light or install a switch.

I loved mine so much, I bought 2 for my Dad for Christmas. He put one on the side of his house where his garbage cans are, and one on his RV. He was as surprised as I was. I'll probably order a couple more because of the ease of use and installation.

There is a switch on the back that gives you a few options. My choice was bright light when motion is detected. It stays on for about 30 seconds, which is plenty to get from the car to the house, and motion keeps it activated.
