The shell works perfectly and saved me $100
Dawn Delta✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 9, 2023
These Stauber shells for the Honda Accord key work perfectly and saved me $100. I have a 2012 Honda Accord. In 2015, the shell for the key broke. I went to the Honda dealership and they said the only way to fix this was to buy a new key, have it cut and pay to program the new key, at a cost of $102 plus $8 sales tax. The Honda key broke again in 2020. I saw a YouTube Video showing how the Stauber key shell worked. The YouTube shows that they shell comes with an allen wrench to tighten the screws. Based upon this I order the shell and received 2 shells. The shells have a 3 plastic shims that you can place in so the keys has no movement. I only needed to use 2 of the shims. Additonally, the package contained 2 shells so I was able to use the original key I had from 2015 (I saved old parts) and the new one. They work perfectly. The Amazon ad should show that the allen wrenches are provided in the package. This helped greatly and I saved them so that when I need to replace the remote batteries, I have the perfect wrench. Thank you Stauber for saving me $100. I was a little reluctant because I had ordered another key shell from Ebay a few years ago for a Honda CRV. The Ebay shell looked exactly like the Honda CRV shell and had one screw. I was not successful in using the Ebay key. While the Stauber shell is slight larger than the original Honda Accord key, and the Stauber shell has 4 screws instead of 1, I am very pleased. Thank you for saving me $100, and do add a picture in the ad showing the allen wrenches in the package.
This thing saved me a couple hundred bucks!

Dimensions are slightly different but it works great! Only the panic button sticks out slightly but not enough for me to push it by mistake. Feels much sturdier than the lousy single screw factory model.
Inexpensive, Quality Key Shell Replacement Solution

I love it! Works great. Installation was straight forward (as long as you have a jeweler's sized screwdriver to remove the embedded chip.

I have attached some pictures to help others see how to do it. But it really is pretty straight forward.

I have a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. I replaced the factory key with another dealer key, once. That was expensive! And I wasn't about to do it again, now that the truck is older. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the metal key or the transmitter. Only the plastic case has given up the ghost.

The only part of the whole process that you need to be aware of is the removal of the chip. The chip is not the remote with the buttons. It is a small chip located under a plastic cover, in the corner near the metal key. See the pictures. To get the chip out, you have to remove the plastic cover and then carefully remove the old shell surrounding the chip. I used a wire cutter to nip away at the housing. See the pictures for the before and after look.

Once the chip is out, get a small amount of electricians tape and wrap it loosely around the chip, so it does not rattle around in the new key. See the picture.

Clean the transmitter with a Q-Tip and a very small amount of Windex, squirted onto the Q-Tip. I don't know about yours, but my transmitter was pretty dirty. Again, see the pics. If you have a Ridgeline, put a small amount of electrical tape on the part of the transmitter where there is no button (there is no trunk lock to pop open).

Put the clean transmitter into the shell. I tipped in the part nearest the metal key first. Insert the transmitter into the shell half that has the holes.

So the tip here is to put all four screws in part way, before tightening any of them down. Once they are all aligned, tighten each one the rest of the way. You will fell the screw tighten up and the seam between to two halves of the key shell will become very thin. Inspect all the way around the seam between the two halves of the shell to ensure it is tight, but not so much that you strip the plastic.

The last picture shows what was tossed after everything was done.

Great kit. If I were not taking pics, it would have been done, start to finish, in under 10, maybe 5 minutes.

DEFINITELY A STRONG RECOMMENDATION.
2014 Honda Pilot perfect fix

I got the two pack to replace both my Honda fobs in different degrees of disrepair. Perfect for 2014 Honda Pilot that has chip built in, it's not separate so all you have to do is pop guts out of poorly designed broken OEM fob and pop it in here. This fob is more robust than OEM with 4 screws instead of one short paltry screw. The red panic button doesn't stick out for 2014 Pilot as others mentioned. It's an absolutely perfect fit. It's a tad longer, but otherwise perfect match. Good idea to change the batteries at the same time so you don't have to worry about that later. Battery Is flat button battery type 1616. No programming. You do have to crack the casing the top of the key is in, if it isn't already broken. I had one broken and one not. So you will have to break the key out of black casing. Once you break it out there is no turning back. My stauber fob needed two shims to get key tight.
2006 Honda Accord Key Shell Replacement

I bought this product as a replacement key shell for my 2006 Honda Accord and it did not disappoint! The included instructions were straightforward and the installation was a breeze. While at first I was hesitant of this product due to other reviews concerning my model car, I can state with great surety that this does in fact work with "˜06 Accord keys. It is imperative that you transfer the transponder chip from the old key housing into the new case. This is the most difficult part of the installation process as the chip is very fragile and removing it without damage is time consuming. I would recommend hot gluing the chip inside the designated spot within the new case as it will rattle around otherwise. I did not have to use any of the included plastic shims to hold the key in place, it fit snugly without them. It is worth noting that I did have to slightly modify the new case with a small drill bit to allow the fob's LED to align properly, but this took all of a few seconds or so. I have also had no issue with sticky buttons or accidentally pressing the panic button as seen in other reviews. Pressing each of them a few times loosened them up. All in all I am very pleased with this product! It most certainly beats paying the premium at the dealership for a new key to be cut and programmed. It was a fun little DIY project and a huge money saver for me!
