If you have not used one of these before it will take a little getting used to with the strong vibration. It is ticklish when cleaning the upper palate side. It did get some plaque off of my teeth after using it consistently for about a week. Take your time using it as the brush head is very small. You will be wasting your time if you use it 30 seconds and think you are getting your mouth clean. You will need a solid 2-4 minutes to be thorough. No issues with the charger or battery. This is a good deal for the price.
Great toothbrush about a two-week battery

I am comparinh the Dr Jim Ellis toothbrush with the Brio. For about half the cost this toothbrush cleans just as well. The Brio battery lasted forever! It seemed like I was hardly needing to charge it. The Dr Ellis toothbrush seems to last about two weeks. As for longevity my Brio lasted about seven years. We'll see how long the Dr Ellis last.
Highly recommended - near professional cleaning

So I've been wanting a new electric toothbrush for awhile and have been doing my own research online. Obviously other than Amazon there's not much information about these other products beyond Oral B and Sonic and a couple of others. I had an older Oral B model but never much liked it. I was resigned to purchasing an expensive Sonicare before doing much more research on Amazon and looking at several different models of sonic toothbrushes. I settled on the Jim Ellis one based on reviews and honestly cost and what I hoped was a quality product with good customer service.
I have no been disappointed. They appear to be well made and it works exactly as advertised. The first time I brushed my teeth with this there was a very strong "tingle" which although not uncomfortable felt weird and did take a few brushings to get used to. Now I can hardly tell it's there. I can honestly say maybe for the first time ever it's incredibly easy to brush my teeth for the full 2 minutes dentists recommend because it feels really, really good. Like just got a professional cleaning, clean. There's nothing truly "fancy" about this, it doesn't have the special holder where you put your brushes that are supposed to get them like micro-cleaned (if that's even real) but it does come with 3 brushes and it sits nicely on it's stand and does exactly what you'd expect it to do. I would highly recommend this product.

"Former" Sonicare User, Now a Dr. Jim Ellis Electic Toothbrush User

I've been using this Dr. Ellis toothbrush for 2 weeks now and really like it a lot. I've had a Sonicare toothbrush for many years and they are in my experience the pinnacle of toothbrushes, but they are also outrageously expensive. My latest Sonicare was clearly on it's way out as the battery was deteriorating and no longer holding it's charge so I started looking for a replacement. I, of course, being a happy Sonicare customer looked there first, but man, has the prices just gotten out of control. That's when I decided to see what else was available and came across this Dr. Ellis electric toothbrush.
The think was clearly charged (cool bright blue indicator light) in about 3 hours after having unboxed it, but the instructions said I should charge for I think 12 hours first so I simply waited until the next morning. It has 3 pre-set modes with cleaning, whitening and gum massage. I don't use the gum massage at all, but I do use the other two options. I feel like the regular cleaning mode feels similar to my Sonicare, but not quite as powerful. That could be because the bristles are a bit softer than my Sonicare heads or the range at which the head (bristles) more back and forth may be slightly less. At any rate, it feels like it's doing a very good job in this mode. I question the benefits of the whitening mode though. It feels like the head motion is so slight, which no doubt is how the head can perform so many more vibrations that it just doesn't "feel" like it's doing a whole lot, but that may just be what is required to perform whitening mode.
I regularly use the toothbrush in cleaning mode and then frequently go through a second use just before bed where after running a cleaning cycle then go another 2 minutes in whitening mode. The thing is with a 2-year warranty and a very reasonable price I ultimately end up using it more than I did my Sonicare. I now brush my teeth 4-6 times a day! If you can afford a Sonicare I'd still give that brand the edge, but it's not fair to compare this to that toothbrush when you take into account the massive price difference. In my experience, I'll use this Dr. Ellis toothbrush more often and due to the great price, if it does only last two years I'll be better off both in the pocketbook as well as cleaner teeth because I'll use it more often.
If you're a Sonicare user and your current toothbrush is nearing its end I'd highly recommend this Dr. Ellis toothbrush as an excellent alternative.
P.S. This is NOT a knock on Sonicare. They have great products ad customer service. I just wish they'd sell their electric toothbrushes at a more reasonable price or at leat create a past customer replacement program where they give current customers a big price break on their next toothbrush replacement order. In the meantime, it's nice to know that there are people like Dr. Ellis out there providing an excellent alternative product at a reasonable price point.
I've included a picture of my old Sonicare and my new Dr. Ellis toothbrush. Note the Sonicare is very old and the power button finally came off so it doesn't look very good by comparison, but it sure was a workhorse!
