I wasn't sure if I should buy these at first because of all the reviews that said the bottles leak. I had a positive experience in the past with the regular Dr. Brown bottles, so I wanted to try the new options+ style. I am glad I did! These are better than I expected and I am really happy with them. I bought the pink set for my newborn baby girl. I do not have any issues with leaking and the bottles work as expected.
Regarding leaking issues, if you go to the Dr. Brown website, there is a whole article dedicated to this, with tips on how to prevent leaking. I will share what I do to prevent leaking and how these bottles are working so well for me. I assure you that any leakage is user error, and I was guilty of this a few times myself!
To prevent leaking:
- Ensure the nipple is securely in the ring before attaching to the bottle. You may have to pull on the nipple a bit or use your finger and press inside and around the ring to ensure the nipple is snug.
- Be sure that the ring is tight around the bottle. Keep turning until it won't turn any more. You might think that it is not supposed to be that tight, but it is.
- Ensure that when you screw the ring onto the bottle, that it is level. If it is tilted in any way, the liquid will leak out.
I follow all of these tips and my bottles do not leak. Hope this helps!
