GREAT LENS KIT
S'mores-7✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 12, 2023
Bought this after hundreds of hours of YouTube videos and Blogs on the "Best Canon Camera Lenses" etc. I would say more than 70% of those sources recommended either lens in this kit at some point in their review/recommendations. We have a Canon EOS Rebel T2I and it came with the 2 kit lenses when we bought it originally. This was our first real DSLR after trading up from an old Sony Cybershot. We were blown away by the difference and never thought it could get any better.

Fast forward several years and I started looking for ways to get a little more serious about photography as I was taking tons of pictures of the kids and they were just ok. You know good but not great. That's when the adventure into camera lenses began and I was almost put off immediately by the cost. In many cases, the lenses cost more than my entire camera kit with the two lenses it came with, but I persisted and I'm glad I did.

The 50mm lens in this kit alone is worth the cost of the kit. While a fixed lens and although you have to be prepared to step back a bit for larger subjects (group photos, etc.) the images that you get on this thing - WITH NO EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING - are AMAZING. During my research, I learned that the blurry background we'd originally got the DSLR for is called bokeh. And while the kits lenses do produce some bokeh and the subject of the photo is clear while the background is slightly blurry, this lens takes it to a whole nother level. With this lens the subject is crystal clear and the background is often blurred to the point of looking like its been post processed in Photoshop or something.

The 10-18mm lens is great as well for wider shots. It gives you a nice range between the zooms offered by this kit lenses the cameras typically come with. Images are clear, autofocus works well, and unlike the 50mm you don't have to walk all the way across the street when taking a photo of a larger subject.

Long story short - if all you have is the kit lenses that came with your camera - get this kit! We were able to save a couple bucks by buying one of the Used ones listed under the "new and used from other sellers" section but now that I've seen the results of this kit, I would gladly have paid full price for it so we could've gotten the original packaging, manuals, etc.
I was not disappointed in either lens

I need to do some inside shots and wanted something for close work on people. These two lens fill the bill.

I am a armature so my tech review is of no use to you. I can tell you these lends improved my photos a million fold.

I love to experiment. The nifty fifty gives a great shot every time. While I purchased this combo to do some l House interior photos with the wide angel 10mm I soon fell in love with the 50mm. The Blur, the focus the color with my camera is nothing less than amazing. the duck shots made me feel like a "real" photographer.

Everyone said you Must have to have a 50 in your bag. They were so right and the 10-18 also added a huge range to my shooting abilities. Here are some shots with one or the other. Of course a trip to the LR which also make me feel much better about what i can so with the pictures post production.
Solid lenses!

As far as price goes this is a great price for a two lens kit.

Of the two lenses the wide angle lens performs much better. While both lenses are nice and sharp and produce great images, the portrait lens is extremely and annoyingly slow making it a chore to take photos with. Once it does focus it's great but who wants to wait 4+ seconds for the lens to catch up to what you're trying to capture?

Even with that problem taken into consideration the wide angle lens is outstanding at this price point. Super crisp, sharp and snappy.

I took these lenses on a trip with me and they did their thing and I did not regret the purchase of this pack at all.
Great value, Perfect portrait and Landscape/Video combo

The 50mm 1.8 is 100% worth buying, and I would recommend getting that lens before any other Canon APSC lenses. It's fast and bright at 1.8 aperture, and auto focuses quickly and quietly for great photos. Only issues with it are that it doesn't have image stabilization for handheld video, and it is a little bit too cropped in for APSC cameras. If they made a 35mm 1.8 at this price with IS, it would literally be the perfect budget settup.

The 10-18 is good for lanscape shots and dramatic wide angles with the fish eye effect at 10mm. I used it for photo and video on my trip in Italy and got some amazing landscape shots and videos inside cathedrals. My only issues with it are that it is not particularly bright at 18, and it's a little bit too warped for my taste at 10mm. On my SL2 at 10mm it is just enough to be noticable and curve lines, but not quite enough to be an artistic fish eye. I will say that the build quality on the 10-18 is probably the best out of all of the APSC lenses that I own.

If I could go back and make the decision again, I would probably just buy the 50mm. Not because the 10-18mm is a bad lens, but because I could then spend the money I saved on a better camera body. If I was going to spend 1000$ on camera equipment, I would buy a full frame camera like the EOS RP. Just that camera body with this lens would be great for street photos, portraits, and narrower landscapes. That being said, if you do already have a crop-sensor camera, you are doing yourself a disservice not to own the 50 1.8.

Like many of the other reviewers, photography is my hobby and I know just enough to get me in trouble. I had been exploring a good 'portrait' lens for about a year and finally opted to buy this package as it included the mighty and right priced 50mm. At first, I couldn't get the F-stop to change but once I updated my camera I was good to go! This lens does everything I want it to and more. I'm spending less time editing and more time sharing pictures with my family and friends. Having selected this package really because of the 50mm I haven't played with the 'travel' lens as much. However, the few pictures I have taken with it have been great. It shoots at a little wider of an angle than I'm used to but everything is crisp and sharp.
