Installed this for a non-networked Linux Debian box. To start with the drivers on the CD and on Wise Tiger's site appear to be for a 8821au chipset, which is inconvenient as this is a 8812au chipset. Their driver install.sh ran through and installed the 21au module fine, but my system refused to recognize/use it as the lsusb seen the adapter as a 12au and cannot apparently use the 21au chipset module.

Found a 8812au driver module from the internet (guy on github had a nice one that worked on some of the stability issues other people mentioned) using a different system to search/download. After running the install for the 12au and activating the module my adapter lite right up. Connection into an older usb2 is slower than a usb3 port but is still decent and this adapter has been pretty solid so far (week's worth of use at approx 4-6 hours a day).

AFTER you get the driver installed, it works great.

I have Windows 7 Pro on my laptop. The mini-cd included would not work. My pc kept telling me I needed to format the mini-cd before I could use it. Well, formatting the mini-cd would wipe it clean, and erase the driver and loading programs (which btw is setup.exe).

So I went to the wise tiger website and downloaded the WT-AC9008 (the p/n for this unit) driver for Win 7.

It's a zip file, and my older version of winzip did not recognize the file. I had to get the newest version of WinZip to un-zip the file.

So, yeah, after loading the un-zipped driver; this dual antenna works great. I live in a 2 story apartment complex that is literally a city block long & wide -- lots & lots of apartments. Before, my laptop wifi picked up maybe 8 or 9 signals. NOW, with the two 6dbi antennas, it now 'sees' about 30 signals :). The slooow, apartment owned router, is received with a stronger signal, and the download data from the net is MUCH MUCH faster.

But it did take a while for me to load the driver, because the tiger website did not say it was a zipped file - so be aware of that.

And I would recommend that you buy this antenna. (and load the driver before you plug in the antenna).

The Wise Tiger Wifi adapter was a great purchase! My mom bought me this product for my birthday and i must say i absolutely love it. It's a long-range wireless adapter used to strengthen signals very well. It boosted my connection signal from a 48 percent to a 100 percent signal strength! I love to game so i use mine for gaming and it's very small and easy to move from computer to computer. This product is one of the only products that has helped me strengthen my connection reliably. Quick and easy to install and setup. Make sure you install drivers on the included disc before plugging the adapter in to your PC. The connection interface is easy and simple to use as well. I connected it to a friend's Win 7 PC that lives clear across the street from me so she could use my wifi on the 2.4 guest band. At my router on just wifi I get 160Mbps down and on her PC, clear across the street and thru several walls she gets 25Mbps down. It's quite a distance, about 125 ft, but it's good enough to watch Youtube with no buffering!

Would definitely buy again. It was also very nicely packed in a gift type box and arrived exactly on time.

This is actually a RealTek product. It arrived well packaged, and it was accompanied by a mini-CD that contained installation software. The adapter performs as expected. In my case, dramatically improved the connection between a PC and a household Wi Fi system. I believe the improvement was for two reasons. First, this adapter allows connections to 5G networks (and lower). If your machine has a lower-frequency/lower-speed adapter, but your wireless network is 5G, then this adapter will make an enormous difference. (Internet speed on the PC improved by a factor of 20, in my case.) The second reason why this adapter improved the functioning of my PC and might help yours, too, is because it adds power and an external antenna to the system. A minor inconvenience was that the device was not plug-and-play. It did require installation of software from the CD. The software is available online, although it was not as easy to find as one might have expected to. The price at the time of purchase was excellent.
