Sturdy, well made rain guage.

This is a well made and sturdy rain gauge. The mounting plate holds the gauge securely in place without any movement. It is easy to empty and to put back in place but made sturdy enough that it should not break unless handled with complete carelessness. My only complaint is that it is a little difficult to read the raised numbers on the plastic rain gauge when filled with water and rain drops all over the gauge. The numbers are large enough to read easily, it is just that it needs better contrast between the numbers, the water and the plastic gauge. Otherwise, I really like it. It should easily last many years. My apologizes that the photo may appear in landscape rather than portrait format.

Nice rain gauge... but it's calibrated like a ruler, not a rain gauge. Every other rain gauge I've ever owned used tenths and hundredths inch increments. But this one uses 1/4" and 1/16" increments! Wish I would've noticed this before I bought it. When someone asks how much rain I got I say "9/16 of an inch". Who does that?! Also the scale (the distance between inch marks) varies from the low end to the high end. The distance from 1 inch to 2 inches is different that the distance from 3 inches to 4 inches. Also annoying. It's a nice, heavy gauge but frustrating to use. I wouldn't buy it again.

It seems sturdy enough for its intended use. It is easy to lift off the post mount to read the level and then put back. I haven't had any trouble reading the numbers, but have not a heavy rain yet that may demonstrate the problems other have had. Overall I like the product.

This rain gauge is excellent! We have a lot larger space to collect the rain than we had on our old one, and it measures smaller amounts! I'm very pleased with it so far!
