This arrived as promised, but in poor shape. The slats were wonky and had to be straightened. I put my medium sized Yukon Gold potato in and sliced right through it. Maybe this is made for large russet potatoes for this product to work, but it didn't specify size to my recollection. It most certainly does not work with smaller potatoes. It cuts right through them! My hubby looked at it and said maybe if we put a chopstick on either side as a stopper it would work.
Anyway, I did request a refund/return on this item. The company was nice enough to say not to bother.
Best of luck to anyone that wants to give it a try. 3 stars for customer service!

Only used it once so far, however it made the potato prep really easy. I had previously been using two pencils as a cutting stop.
While that does work, this is WAY faster and provides for very even slicing. Love this style of potato grilled and this makes it super quick to make.
Cut it, nuke it for 4-5 minutes, brush it down with melted butter and smashed garlic and throw it on the grill. Turns out perfect every time.
A lot of people don't seem to know about this style of potato and so when we make for guests, it is always a big crowd pleaser.

I thought it would be bigger, it's for small to barely medium spuds only. It does work, but for a LARGE spud use the wooden handle spoons on either side, and slice every 1/4" apart. Well shoot for small to medium spuds do that too. HTH

I really like this device, but it could use one tweak - I wish it had a way to stop the knife at a certain place instead of cutting all the way down. Other than that it's great!

Never made a hasselback potatoe before but now feel like a pro. Very delicious!!!!! Great product.
