Purchased an expensive suede jacket and called my dry cleaner about having it coated. He said to do it myself and use camp dry. I did and it is wonderful. No darkening of material or spots. Goes on easy and after 24 hours I ran water over the sleeve and it repelled off! Did my shoes as well just to protect them. Will always keep on hand now!
strong odor, heavy duty protection

Kiwi Camp Dry packs a powerful odor punch, so don't spray it indoors. I used it to waterproof a large cotton canvas barn jacket and it did the job in spades. I took the jacket outside onto the back deck, hung it from the railing and plastered it with two-thirds of a can of Kiwi. Even with a slight wind blowing the bulk of the spray onto the jacket and diluting the chemical odor, I could still smell the powerful chemicals in this spray. But, leaving the coat outside for 2-3 hours in sun and light breeze completely dried the spray and dissipated the odor to the extent that I could bring the coat inside with minimal fumes coming off. By the following morning (about 12 hours later) there was no smell left at all. And, after 24 hours, sprayed water beaded up and rolled off like the proverbial duck's back. And no discoloration of the (beige) fabric, either. This stuff is the real deal. Can't say how long the protection will last, but it's really good now. Won't turn ordinary fabric into wet-suit neoprene waterproof, but it'll handle a good deal of rain and snow. I've tried it out.
Easy to apply but it took two and a half cans to put two coats on a 4 person Eureka Timberline tent

Easy to apply but it took two and a half cans to put two coats on a 4 person Eureka Timberline tent. Some of these reviewers said one can treated a 10-person tent! That could not have been a very heavy coating. Water now beads up on my tent - so that is good. I haven't tried it yet in a 4-hour thunderstorm, however. I'll keep you posted.
Spray your water concerns away

My 6 year old tent started to not be as waterproof as it used to be. Until then, it has been a great tent. Not ready to give up yet, I decided to try some water repellant spray. This is best done on a cool, overcast day to ensure the product doesn't dry too quick and really has time to soak into the material. 1 can did 2 coats on my rain fly and the exposed bottom edges of my tent. I'm not sure if you are supposed to do 2 coats, but it worked great. I now sleep peacefully at night in my restored tent! I tested the water proofing with a garden hose the next day and am very pleased at how the water just beads up and rolls off the fabric. Highly recommended, but be sure it's compatible with your tent material!
Works great.
