This unit is as good as others costing 2 & 3 times as much and they do not have the subwoofer line outs and crossover. The multiple outputs (balanced & unbalanced) allows me to patch in to any studio arrangements I need.
Use only the XLR inputs

It works very well in boosting the high-frequency phonemes of dialog in movies (i.e., consonants) and thus improving intelligibility. But it is necessary to use XLR plugs to input the audio signal. Otherwise, any AC powered device, such as a DVD player, will create a 60 hz hum, or buzz.

No audible noise or other quality degradation. Using this for home audio, and the curves of each control seem appropriate - it was as easy to get a flat response using an external pink noise generator and RTA. For the price, it seems to be a great little unit.
Could be improved by
- a built-in pink noise generator.
- "power on" indicator light
- better labeling for the i/o button that controls which signal the meters register.
