Screw terminals and the PL259 connectors are pretty flimsy. The screwing action never quite feels like it's done.
For those who experience "Hum" usually that's a ground loop problem. Shorten your grounding strap. Pickup the ARRL's book on proper grounding, that'll help.

Not as advertised

Does not accept a 10 gauge wire. Connector is difficult to get on and to remove. Most importantly, it introduced a hum into my system.
radio hardware - lightning arrestor for coax cable

I needed these to protect my ham radio equipment at an off-site installation, the day of the solar eclipse. As they sometimes say, "whatever you prepared for, that's not what's going to happen to you." Cumulus clouds built several miles away, but we got no thunderstorms overhead. I'm elated that I had the protection, even so.
Small and very functional.

Got this mounted last night and it fits great. It now gives me that peace of mind knowing that I have some level of protection in case my antennas get hit by lightning and are connected to my radio equipment. Hopefully I never have to replace it and it continues to give me that peace of mind. My outside antennas are mounted on 1" PVC and the Lightning Arrestor fits perfectly inside with the grounding wire attached.
