Key features

  • Small compact design, scan faster and indicates test results directly. Even a beginner can use this unit to analyze any 12V batteries healthy, tells you everything about the battery: voltage, charge, cranking power, and how much life is left in the battery (level of Ohm resistance). Does it quickly and precisely.
  • Much wider test range (100-2000 CCA) and more accurate compared to its competitors. Test results based on JIS, EN, DIN, SAE, CCA, BCI, GB, CA, MCA and IEC Standards.
  • Provides check the Alternator's charging and Starter's cranking conditions. Vehicle charging system test is also available, including load voltage, unloaded voltage, ripple status and charging system status.
  • The BA101 battery tester is well built with a large LCD display that has white backlight and contrast adjustment, indicates test results directly. no internal batteries required and gets the power directly from the 12V battery.
  • It's equipped with a 3. 0 feet long cable and made of a very thick flexible insulator, much safer than others selling on the marketplace. There are 4 buttons on BA101, The up/down button for scrolling the menu. The Enter and Exit button allow for navigation back and entering menu.

Hate to give this such a low rating
Hoosierguy✓ Verified PurchaseApril 27, 2018
Hate to give this such a low rating, but did not have enough documentation to test my deep cycle batteries on my golf cart. They are 12V XC US Batteries. When I do a quick test, it says to replace the batteries. The testers says they are 185 CCA (these batteries are rated at 155 / 20 hours, not CCA), When I want to do a complete battery test, I use the CCA rating the machine gave me and they test the battery as good. I know I have an issue with at least one battery as they do not hold a charge, and when I use the old fashioned method (specific gravity and voltage) only I find one bad cell and 1 other questionable. I have searched the internet to see if I could find more documentation, but have had no luck.

So my rating is just against the documentation as I can not ascertain the machine itself.
Good little device if you like to see data on your car's electrical system.

Normally I do not post anything right off the bat after getting something but this device was what I have been needing! I generally work on all my vehicles where I can and batteries have always been a thorn in my side. It is a crap shoot when you buy one, oh sure they have warranties, just saw one tonight for 5 years! That is great if you like changing your car battery every other year or so.

Anyway ... got it today and used it immediately on 3 older to newer vehicles in my "fleet" as my wife calls it, 1996, 1998, 2015. The 2015 SUV still had its OEM battery, passed. The 1996 truck with a 2 year old battery, passed. The 1998 car was a replace with only a 1 1/2 year old battery. Health reading was below 40% every time I tested it. The alternator test passed on all (3) vehicles and it was nice to see actual data on the screen and it was not just some pre-made number screen, it varied in it's data stream for each vehicle.

Took the 1998 car battery back to the store, they said "well, my tester says it has voltage so it is good." Obviously his "tester" was store "approved" and that is what they go by. I was warned a few years back by the local dealership to watch out for them saying that because voltage is not the only test that should be done on batteries and they had many customers claim that the parts store said the batteries were good while the dealership test said replace.

Screen is a bit small but readable, the menus are intuitive and a little car knowledge helps with the syntax of the questions/options. The print screen was a great add-on, worked under Windows 7 64 bit and was nice to see and show how a bad battery vs a good battery looks like.

By the way, after I got the new battery (tagged 03/18) home and immediately put it into the 1998 car, I tested it without starting the car. The results were great and I will hold on to them and test this battery in 6 months and see if there is any change.

Results from the BA101: (screen/print-out)
Healthy: 100% 1140CCA
Charge: 81% 12.49V
Internal R= 2.62m ohm
Rated: 800 A

GOOD BATTERY
Packaging/Instructions says that meter is for CARS (Motorcycles not mentioned)
highpwr✓ Verified PurchaseMarch 11, 2018
The on-line description of the product says that it can be used for motorcycles but the packaging and instructions for the product say that it is a "car" battery tester. During testing the meter requires you to enter the amp-hour rating of the battery be selecting a value from a preset menu. The lowest value in the menu is 30 amp-hour. Many motorcycle batteries are rated in the 9 to 12 amp-hour range but you cannot enter these values. I would expect that some of the battery condition information calculated by the meter is going to be incorrect given that the input amp-hour data is incorrect.
The amount of information it provides is fantastic. And

This is an incredible gadget. The amount of information it provides is fantastic. And... all that for a very reasonable cost. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it. There are a few things that would be nice to have, but those are actually already available in the more advanced model of the tester. I knew I could pay a little more to get them, but not being a professional, I didn't think I needed to pay more for "nice to have" features. This tester does everything I need it to do, and at a very economical price. I highly recommend this product.
I would like to give it a higher rating but its test ...

I would like to give it a higher rating but its test results are confusing. Installed a new battery and the "Quick Test" shows a different result than the "Battery in Car" test. The same test items are listed, CCA rating, percent of charge, battery health, internal resistance etc. BUT the numbers shown are different. The Quick test states 96% of charge while the "Battery in car" displays 71% ??? Both tests done 3 minutes apart...so what is it, 96 or 71? Same thing applies to the ohm readings and the CCA, different, not by much but different.
I would believe 96 since the battery is new and fully charged. My dealer charges the new battery and then runs a diagnostic test with his $3,000 Snap On industrial battery testing station before sending you on your way.
My old battery didn't give any warning signs before dying in a mall parking lot so I purchased this tool to keep track of the 3 auto batteries in the family. Doing a yearly test would produce "numbers" showing me that a battery is slowly heading for the recycle pile and I could plan for a smooth replacement rather than calls to my brother for a "jump." Like the concept of these Conductance testers but different results makes me question its accuracy. If I can't trust the test results what good is the tester?
