My son is about to be 4 and loves legos. He's also afraid to sleep in his room by himself sometimes. This is perfect as a nightlight. It doesn't emanate a lot of light which is great, it's not distracting as he falls asleep. It has 3 modes: on, a slow flash, and a fading pulse off/on. One button for all 3 modes makes it easy for kids to use themselves. It automatically has a timer for 15 minute shut off which saves batteries. It also can plug into the wall. He can build it into any shape he wants. Since it can operate on batteries he likes to fall asleep holding it sometimes. There is also a way to stop the 15 minute auto shut off if you want it plugged in all night. I would buy this for a gift! In the future I may buy more pieces so he can build it up bigger.

I bought these for my grandson who is visually impaired. These blogs are so cool! We did not even realize until he had had them for a whole month that there is a setting where you can make them voice activated. They light up when you speak. When I saw them on Amazon, I thought they were ridiculously expensive until we saw what they actually do. . I went to whole hog and bought the big set and I'm so glad I did. For a child who is visually impaired And who loves light, these were the perfect gift.

The lighted blocks are something new to captivate their imagination. You don't neccessarily have to build what's on the front of box. My grandsons built lighted sleds and buildings with them. They love the set! Keeps them occupied for hours.
