While it's a nice looking board, the pieces (checkers) are too light and don't fit into their holders properly.

Almost nice. Lots of small scratches on the outside (yes I'll probably get more but it's nice to start without them). Mediocre workmanship on the finish (acceptable for the price point). It's applied inconsistently, and there is some rippling effects on the playing surface. The biggest issue comes with the playing pieces. The finish is very inconsistent. All together too light on the surface that touches the board. Worse is the fact that they are inconsistent in size. This creates a problem with storage. You have to find 3 thin ones from each color for the center storage space, or the dice will not fit in with them. Adding to this problem, is the fact that they set the handles and blocks to secure the handles off from each other by about a 1/16th of an inch. It also causes you to be unable to close the game without shaking the chips to the left, or they hit the other side and it won't close. I do like it. It just seems a shame to make such a nice board, and rush through the construction,
so much, that you mess up on so many aspects of the product. BTW... handles, hinges, and latches were also loose. A consumer shouldn't have to tighten things like that. It's too risky with the potential to split the wood. Use caution!

Beautiful wooden board

Beautiful wooden board, just as pictured. I've only used it once so far, but had no problems with the pips moving around (board was on a flat surface). For the price, I think it was an excellent purchase. My only negative would be the size of the handles - they are a little awkward when displaying the board on a table.
