The filter that came in it made me worry at first, as the first filling was very quick and then it almost immediately turned into a little trickle. I replaced the filter with one from the three-pack they also sell on Amazon after maybe ten gallons because I didn't have the patience to fill and let it drain as many times as were required for a full pitcher by that point.
That being said, the first replacement filter has been going strong for probably five times that much water, and still filters pretty quick. According to the documentation, that's supposed to be about a third of the useful life of a filter cartridge. Perhaps the included filter was jostled the wrong way in shipping or something? It's activated carbon, so it's not hard for me to imagine "settled media" issues.
My water is visibly pretty clear without being filtered but contains a lot of chloramines and a bit of minerals, neither of which can be detected in the filtered water. It tastes great, and I've been drinking a lot more water since I got the pitcher. That's pretty awesome, since I bought the pitcher to clean tap water for use in a humidifier and hadn't even intended use it for drinking water until I tasted it for the first time. Now the humidifier gets tap water and I drink the filtered stuff. I still have two more filters from the replacements I bought, and when those are consumed I have no doubt I'll buy more. Totally recommended to anybody thinking about a filter pitcher.

Easy to set up-- I haven't had an issue with the filter falling out like some other people have mentioned. All I can say is make sure all parts are cleaned and dried off before installing the filter inside! The water does filter quickly and it tastes as good as any other major brand water filters. I haven't had this product for a while yet so I can't speak for its longevity but I will update in a year or so.
The dial "reminder calendar" that is on top of the pitcher is not an automatic one like Brita has, I think this is why people were confused. You literally turn the dial four months ahead of whatever month you are on now (so like if you started using it in January, turn the dial to 4/April) to remind yourself that is when to change the filter.

SLOW.... Replacement filter = one drop filter at a time

My original Nakii was perfect out of the box. It filtered super fast, tasted great, and was beautiful to look at. As we got closer to replacing the filter, I noticed a dramatic slow down in the filtering speed. Since the reservoir is so small, you cannot reasonably fill the space above the filter and walk away. You'd have to do this 5-6 times if you want to fill the pitcher. I got excited when the new filter came hoping that it will go back to the original filtering speed. No such luck. The new filter is even worse. It literally drips one drop at a time and has become pretty much useless. I wish I could return this and the filter.
It pours!

I got this to replace a frustrating Brita pitcher that did nothing but dribble all over the place when it pours. I am not obsessive about the filtration, mostly I am looking to knock down the high mineral content that leaves hard water stains where I live, both the Britia and this one do fine in that regard. This one at last pours without dripping! Hallelujah! I took the little flap off the pour spout off just to prevent any and all drips, it was mostly ok with it on there but I like it better with it off. The weighted flap that covers the fill hole takes a little practice, if you turn the faucet on too low sometimes it stays closed for a second or two and water can go all over. Now that I know it I don't really have that problem. I would have probably preferred a simpler thumb opening flap instead but its ok.
The top fits snuggly and I haven't had any issue with it coming loose when pouring, even when pouring out the last drop of water. The filter isn't super fast but I just keep the habit of filling it when I use it and putting it back in the fridge so it stays full instead of having to fill the top section multiple times and waiting for it to drip through the filter to fill it from empty.
Nice, sturdy pitcher that pours without making a mess, FINALLY!

Does a VERY, VERY POOR job of removing dissolved particles

I am compelled to write this review seeing all the rave talk based on just how well the Nakii filter removes smell of chlorine.
So far as removing dissolved particles is concerned, this one does a very, very poor job.
I ordered HM Digital TDS-EZ Water Quality TDS Tester[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002C0A7ZY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1] along with this Nakii Filter to check how well this works.
Here are the results I obtained (Number against each sample is average of 3 readings within a 10 minute span):
Unfiltered tap water = 212 ppm
Water filtered with Nakii = 195 ppm (each reading was taken after re-filtering, hoping the ppm value would improve over time)
Water filtered with an old filter (past 90% of its life already) = 183 ppm
To drive home the point, the old filter worked better so far as removing dissolved solids are concerned!! Note that the numbers provided by the digital meter may not be correct from an "absolute" point of view, but given that I obtained similar numbers testing each of the above samples at least 3 times, the "relative" values tells the story.
There is another important point to note: Nakii is marketing this filter as "Long-lasting" and "Fast", without talking about how well it removes solid contaminants from water.
My intention is not to influence anyone's buying decision, but encourage buyers to do a little more research on something as important as drinking water.
I returned the product and did not have any problem doing so (thanks Amazon!).
