Packed fresh from the military, plastic straps and all. Packed about two years ago, they are as delicious and fresh as the day they were made. Having spent 3 years eating K and then C rations as a kid, these are quite a step up! I understand the removal of cigs, but where is my tobasco! It's a gov't conspiracy I know it. If you are packing for trip, add some pepper packets and a small bottle of tobasco, every other food group is covered. Shout out to youtuber Steve1989mreinfo for reminding me of the value and taste of shelve stable food.

I ordered the A- and B-cases (2016 menus 1-24) and they were promptly shipped together and arrived in great condition. The inspection date is as indicated in the product description (2018 or later); the TTI smart label is nice and bright letting me know that these have been stored in good conditions; and all of the MRE pouches and retort packs are intact without any pinholes or other irregularities.
These MREs are great for backpacking and camping, holding on to for those times when you're just not feeling well enough to cook, or for just setting aside so that you can enjoy a hot meal after a power outage or other emergency. There's a wide variety of mains, snacks and drinks to suit virtually any palate.

Great deal. as advertised. My dates were coming up on 2 years old. Still plenty of time left. My local army surplus charged me $130.00 out the door for a case of 12 civilian MRE's only to discover they were already 4 years old. I returned the case, and purchased case's A and B from amazon. I got an extra case for $40.00 more versus what my local place was charging. And these are the military versions(much better). I would buy these again.

I'm an Army vet who remembers C-rations. Loved them . MREs came out later in the 80s, and were a bit different. Bulkier than Cs , but do the job of filling a hungry gut. I can say this, there was no way I could eat everything in all MREs when that's all you had for days. I can say this is a great way to have emergency food. Not intended to be as good as a restaurant, it was intended to be a replacement for full meals when on maneuvers. Proper calorie intake per meal, designed to keep you healthy. Don't compare to home cooking, or Burger King. Great quality meals, and not loaded with sodium, which isn't good for you anyway.
