works as they say
JMPHX•April 2, 2018
It works well, no issues. Seems to do what they say. I hoped it would work with my DVR but there is delay in the sound so that the kitchen speaker and the TV speaker do not sync. If this device had a delay sound adjustment feature it would be great.
returning, hopefully new model will fix

Inexpensive way to stream through your receiver...
NJRaceGuy•February 18, 2018
I wanted to add a low cost way to stream music to my existing receiver - which only has analog (R/L) inputs. This worked perfectly! It picked up my network, I added the Spotify app on my iPhone, upgraded to Premium on the WebSite, used a 3.5mm Y connector and was streaming through my stereo and (wired) 2nd zone in about an hour. Only drawback was the setup does take some time - it did take a while to download all the Klipsch, DTS PlayFi and Spotify apps. So, $100 for the Gate, $10/month for Spotify Premium and I'm streaming through my stereo (and can use it in the car also..).
Works great. Take some time and figure it out

Works great. Take some time and figure it out. I use the gate with my Denon receiver, which powers 6 speakers and 2 subs and a I have Klipsch Three in another room. Seamlessly plays music throughout my house using the iPhone play-fi app. Generally use Spotify or airplay.
Life is great. Eventually

I had several issues with this system. Let me also preface by saying I am a big fan of Klipsch speakers. I thought their craftsmanship would translate into the Stream system but it clearly did not. I do not think they even have much invested into this system. Here's why:
I bought the Gate to bring my analog receiver into a wireless home network. I also purchased a Klipsch RW-1 to use in the kitchen. My vision was to have the music play throughout the house. I will say, both of the devices work well by themselves. They DO NOT work well together. After about 30 minutes of disconnecting, reconnecting, restarting apps, restarting routers, etc. I can finally bring them online together in chorus. Life is great.
Eventually, I leave my house and I must turn my stereo off. I come home to start the system back up... does not work. Cannot get both the RW-1 and Gate to play in chorus any more. Usually, the app will find one of two of the outputs but never both.
I also had an issue where I tried to reset the gate so I could again get the speakers to play simultaneously. The vague instructions Klipsch's app gives to reset the system tell you to "hold the power button down for 5 seconds while inserting the power chord." Does that mean I hold the power button down for five seconds and then insert the power chord? Am I resetting some persistence module on latent capacitor power? Seems high tech..... OR... am I supposed to hold the power button down while inserting the power cable and thence 5 seconds thereafter? WHO KNOWS. Either way, I tried everything and eventually placed the device into some unresponsive loop.
After I emailed Klipsch a detailed email on what kind of troubleshooting I had attempted and asked them for any guidance. Their response was along the lines of... "did you turn it off and then turn it back on again?" Insulting. They finally realized it was their device that was malfunctioning, not the user. They promptly sent me a shipping label to launch the device back to their factory. Kudos at least for paying for shipping.
HOWEVER, once they received my device... they didn't do anything... until I emailed them 2.5 weeks after they received it to see what the resolution would be for my warranty case. "Oh, we're sorry, it's shipping tomorrow."
Great. Things happen. Paperwork gets lost. I get it. I'm not an unreasonable person. Until they sent me a replacement unit. With everything..... but the North American two-prong attachment to the power adapter. Yes. After four weeks of not using an item for which I paid $179... I had my replacement with no way of powering the device.
More emails. This was my favorite: "[The warehouse is] claiming they sent you the correct thing. Could you please provide a picture of the bar code with the serial number for the Gate we sent you and several pictures of the box and plug."
SURE! I need you to prove to me that I'm an idiot and didn't find the item in the box you sent me after I went through the pain to send you another email. Here was the response:
"I am very sorry for the delayed response. The warehouse took longer to return my emails than I had expected. It looks like the Gate you received didn't have the NA AC adapter that it was supposed to have. There should be 3 wall adapters for the power supply. I have 2-day'd the correct adapter to you. Again, I am very sorry for the delay."
So.... I'm not an idiot? You did f* this away... again.
Anyways, I finally received the missing part for my replacement for a unit that failed in the first place.
STILL DOESN'T WORK AS ADVERTISED.
DO NOT BUY THIS if you are trying to use the Stream system throughout your house with multiple devices. Yes. I did assign static IPs to the devices. Yes. I did everything Klipsch asked me to do to troubleshoot. It still does not work.
