Products like this are a godsend for larger, stronger dogs that pull hard or sprint unexpectedly when they see a rabbit or cat, etc. I have a 15 month old female Rottweiler that is very 'reactive' when she sees small animals on our walks, and this can be very problematic for her (collar on her neck) and me (my hands and shoulders)! This product does absorb a decent amount of 'shock' when my dog decides to sprint. However, she is a Rottie that loves to chew, and it is sometimes challenging to get her from chewing this device, since it is close to her neck and mouth when installed. I highly recommend the product, but what I really need to find is a good, rugged 'shock absorbing' leash. I'll use this for now, but I fear my Rottie will chew through it in no time. Most dogs will not chew it, so buy it with confidence if your pooch is not a chewer. Great product!

I purchased the medium bungie early May for my now 40 pound puppy. It worked amazing during our walks while she was learning her loose leash manners. Over the last almost 3 months it has slightly stretched out and after a very exciting time at the beach the elastic snapped entirely. The fabric covering the elastic still held the leash together so she was still on a leash but there was no more bungie. Overall, I give this product 4 stars because it is a great training tool, but I wouldn't use it long term unless you expect to replace it regularly for heavy pullers or lungers. I'm going to purchase the large instead of the medium to see how well it works for her in hopes that it will last longer than 3 months.
