The key to this thermometer is calibrating it. They don't tell you that in the instructions that come with the packaging- Instead, they send an email that tells you how to calibrate the thermometer. I can't understand why they would not have that in the instructions in the packaging. Without doing the calibration, the thermometer will not read correctly. I was going to return it and then received their email (without me having said anything) about calibration procedures. So, once I followed their instructions on doing that, the thermometer began to read correctly and is now very easy to use. I had to do the "5 minute" calibration twice along with the additional follow ups to get it calibrated. However, now it works very well.

Reads quickly which is nice when you have wiggly babies.
My only wish is that the calibration note was somewhere on the box. As a parent I don't always have time to read the piece of paper in box, but I usually skim the outside. Had I seen it on the box I would have been able to calibrate for more accurate readings.

I bought these in hopes of taking my toddlers temperature faster (10 seconds, as it claims). These are terrible. The temperature was 2+ degrees lower than other thermometers I had lying around, so these were useless. I tested on myself, thinking maybe my kids were too wiggly. My normal temperature is around 98.5, but would consistently be 95.9-96.3 using these. I calibrated like the seller said to do, but it still does not work. They offered to refund, but I'd have to pay shipping and a restocking fee. Not worth the hassle.

I have owned several different digital thermometers in the past, and never really trusted the readings on any of them. I gues I'm old school, but I have always fallen back onto my mercury thermometer. I have 2 young granddaughters, and using a mercury thermometer on them is not always the best idea, however, so I decided to purchase a quick-reading digital thermometer.What attracted me to this thermometer was that it has been clinically tested and FDA approved. I love that I can take her temperature in different ways, depending on how she is feeling and what she will tolerate. I have compared the readings to my mercury standby, and it has given me accurate readings, so I am very happy with my purchase.
