I purchased this with the hopes of being able to play war robots and other games more efficiently.

Works exactly like you think it should. USB-C phones are at a loss, from my experience, as the cable doesn't work- even with an USB micro to USB-C adapter.
I use an Essential phone as well, which is really heavy with it's ceramic back and it has the power button is right under the clamp. However, the spring is so strong that you can prop the phone up to just be held by the edge of the phone to avoid clamping on the button. That's a pretty universal fit in my book

Clamp is incredibly weak. It was barely able to hold my phone, a Moto X4 in place. If I moved at all, the phone would fall out. It was also very difficult to get the holder to clip around the PS4 controller.

I love it! My only complaint is trying to get the mount off of the controller but other than that, connecting it to the phone is a breeze because of the otg cable it gives you, and the mount itself can fit into pretty any phone with a reasonable size. I usually use it to play some old games like, gameboy advance, snes, and a lot others that I'm looking forward to play. This thing almost beats having a handheld. I recommend this to anyone who loves to play games on their phone.

Nice accessory. The plastic isn't super strong, but as long as you aren't taking it off all the time, isn't a problem at all. Love the fact that it comes with a OTG cable, since the DS4 has major troubles BT pairing with a Galaxy.
