As a home studio enthusiast, teacher and musician, Cubase has always fulfilled my needs. I've used Cubase for many years now and have just upgraded from Cubase 5 to Cubase 9. Lots of new features, new screens have made it even more user friendly than it was before. You don't have to be highly trained audio engineer to be able to use it. However, if you do come from that background, then you'll find Cubase to be one of the best DAW's on the market, especially at this entry level price.
