Flooded immediately after installation (tank was cleaned, fuel line ...
Patrick E Mann•May 23, 2018
Flooded immediately after installation (tank was cleaned, fuel line replaced, and premium, ethanol-free fuel from a new CLEAN gas can used). Upon removing the bowl and float/needle so I could flush the inlet seat and check for proper float height and manufacturing debris, the clip for the needle fell off due to no tension. The bowl gasket could not be reinstalled because it swelled and curved so it was too large and would not fit inside the bowl lip. This was after being exposed to Top Tier fuel for less than two minutes. The throttle arm tab which engages the idle screw barely touches the edge of the screw face, and not due to something being bent...it is just that far out of spec. When I finally scrounged a clip and bowl gasket and got the machine running, it surged so severely that I have to buy a different brand of carburetor. I'd steer clear of this one.
Made my old snowblower run like new.
BigDog•March 24, 2018
Made my old Craftsman snowblower run like new. I had replaced the carb a year or two back, but it never ran right. The other carb I bought was slightly different that this one as it had an adjustment screw on the bottom. This one works much better and is more like the original that came on the snowblower. It starts on first pull now. Great investment. Beware though, if you don't run you small engines dry and drain the carb on it, you will continue to have issues. The ethanol in the gas is the issue most of the time. It breaks down and clogs the small passages in the carb and causes issues with surging and hard starting. Dump your gas can into your car after 6 months and make sure you put stabilizer in the gas can as soon as you come home from the gas station. That should keep it running well.
I was skeptical of a $12 Carb - how good could it be
C. Johnson•February 26, 2018
I was skeptical of a $12 Carb - how good could it be. Turns out it's great. This fit exactly onto my snowblower and I was able to use the existing hoses and such so it was a really quick fix. First pull starts now once primed. I do have a couple of critiques for the kit. First off, the hose that comes with is really too small for fuel line or air line, so it was useless, and I didn't use the new air pump or fuel filter as they weren't needed, but they seemed like the right parts. You'll need vacuum hose and fuel line if you need to replace those as the one in the kit doesn't fit well.
This was a perfect match. I only used the carb from this

My in-laws Ariens snowblower 520e would not start after 3 years of non-use with a full tank of old fuel. Go figure ! I emptied the fuel tank, purged the fuel line and the old float bowl. Still no start. I then ordered this. This was a perfect match. I only used the carb from this. and not the other parts. As others have stated, the fuel inlet is not a perfect angle, BUT you can fix this. Just take an open end wrench, place it on the SQUARE end of the fuel inlet part and twist the inlet to the location/direction you need, so no need for a kinked fuel line. When attaching the carb to the engine make sure to tighten evenly to compress the gasket slightly for no air leaks. Gasket tack works great too. It started right up with no problem.. A 1 pull and it starts Ariens snowblower is back in business. The purr of a snowblower in Wisconsin in January. "Let it snow"
Works great on my old Toro 521
Amazon Customer•January 18, 2018
Older Toro 521 (Tecumseh). Engine was surging, finally died and would not re-start. Considered taking it into the shop to get repaired, but took a chance and ordered this carb. Carb arrived on time and in good shape. Relatively easy installation, it's a good idea to take pictures of the existing before you disassemble for a reference. As others have mentioned this carb has fewer adjustment screws than the original OEM but otherwise is a direct replacement. I re-used the existing fuel lines and primer bulb. I did not add the filter. Started right up and running strong, no more surging. Saved some $$, would recommend.
