If you have multiple areas and trailer hitches that need a lock, this is the way to go. I have 3 gates, 3 trailer hitches and a hitch lock that all work with the key to my truck. It makes carrying multiple keys a thing of the past. Ah, you ask, what if I get rid of the truck? Went to ACE and they can make a duplicate of my Chevy Silverado 2018 key without the chip. Works great unless I forget the spare. Then I have to kill my truck and use that key (minor inconvenience).

No more trying to find the correct key. Easy to set up by inserting ignition key and turning.
Works great when storing trailer in RV storage lot or at campsite.
Same key for hitch lock, coupler lock, cable lock.

This product is great. I travel with my trailer a lot so having something sturdy, visible, and easy is pretty important for me. This device is all three.

Is this theft proof is probably your question looking through the reviews, the answer is a resounding no. BUT, it makes one hell of a theft Deterrent.

This product is unique in its shackle and shape making It looks very sturdy *which it is but I could absolutely still steal your trailer with this on it* it's bright red and makes loads of noise if you start prying/cutting/smashing at this device and with it being unique known destructive methods are not as cut and dry as other devices, this means more risk which in turn means less theft attempts, less damage to your trailer, and honestly that's all you really need.

I do think there needs to be a way to rekey this device, if you trade cars you will have to either keep a key or buy a new lock, it's not like this is done to make it more secure as you could put the reset device inside the lock barrel. I'm sure it's toted as a security feature but it's more likely just not something they care to engineer or believe the extra pieces would add to points of failure.

That said would I buy this again? Absolutely this thing rules.

I put this on my trailer. Setting key was straight forward. I've checked it a few times and it's secure.

First off, nothing is theft-proof. The only thing you can do is make your belongings more irritating that the thieves skip yours and move onto the next persons. I feel this product does just that. I wish it came with a 2" ball to make it more snug, but the 1 7/8" ball fits the received okay. It is definitely heavy duty metal and will hopefully stand up to the test of time. I love that we were able to key directly to our vehicle key so it is one less key we have to keep track of for our camper.
